Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) What music are you listening to now? Or if you are listening to a particular playlist, what songs are on it?

message 2: by exxcentrica (new)

exxcentrica Right now I'm addicted to Duran Duran's new album. I've also been listening to a lot of new wave...music from my youth :) I'm blaming Duran Duran for that too.

message 3: by Rachel (last edited Apr 22, 2011 11:08PM) (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments The new Radiohead album, Mumford and Sons, and A Perfect Circle have been on my playlist lately. Gearing up for the APC concert in July!! So completely stoked!:D

message 4: by Sans (new)

Sans I heart Mumford & Sons!!!

I'm currently listening to Adele's 21

message 5: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I do too, Sans. Amazing! I haven't gotten into Adele, but I haven't really devoted that much time yet.

message 6: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I am currently obsessed Adele's 21 album. Sans, You have awesome taste because that is one good album. I'm also listening to Maroon 5's Album.

message 7: by Laura (new)

Laura I'm hoping someone can recommend some good, new rock music. I always liked Against Me!, Rise Against, Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle, AFI and the Distillers.

Bon Iver - Creature Fear
Boy & Bear - Rabbit Song
Death Cab for Cutie - I Will Possess Your Heart
Glen Hansard - Say It To Me Now
Jesca Hoop - Wintersong
Laura Veirs - July Flame
Local Natives - Airplanes
Matt Pond PA - Amazing Life
Neko Case - Dirty Knife
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - O Children
Peggy Sue - Watchman
Port O'Brien - My Eyes Won't Shut
Radical Face - Welcome Home, Son
She Keeps Bees - Ribbon
The National - About Today
Tired Pony - Point Me At Lost Islands
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Warrior

message 8: by Lea (new)

Lea (londoninmymind) | 11 comments Uh, I'm in love with The Strokes' most recent album 'Angles' (well, most of it anyway) even though it's different from their old stuff.

Other than that... well, there are waay too many songs on my playlist right now for me to mention them all here :)

message 9: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Question: Do you guys randomize your playlist (with different artists) or do you listen to the same artist on one playlist?

Maybe it's a testament to my lack of spontaneity but I rarely allow my playlist to be a mash-up of random artists. I always pick one artist (with the utmost care) and listen to them religiously.

Currently playing my Jennifer Hudson Playlist

1) Pocketbook
2) Giving Myself
3) Spotlight
4) If This Isn't Love
5) Better in Time (by Leona Lewis)

Laura Sashana wrote: "Question: Do you guys randomize your playlist (with different artists) or do you listen to the same artist on one playlist?

I'm pretty much the opposite of you. My playlists are almost always random artists with one sort of theme, whether it's something like genre (rock, indie, folk), something else (love songs, songs with a good beat, songs that make me think of the Hunger Games, female singers, etc.), or playlists that make me think of a time in my life (Saves the Day and The Distillers bring me right back to high school, whereas She & Him and Tokyo Police Club is totally college music).

I love going through my music and putting together those playlists. Sometimes it will take me hours to make up the perfect playlist that encapsulates the mood I'm going for.

message 11: by Shadow Jubilee (new)

Shadow Jubilee (uhqs) I'm like Laura. My playlists are usually based on some sort of theme or genre although more often than not, I will just toss up a playlist with my current favorite songs and just play it over and over again so my playlists tend to be named something like May 2011 Playlist or Current Playlist. lol.

Right now I am listening to Gates of Dawn by Secret Garden, one of my current favorites. Last night I had When Ginny Kissed Harry from the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince soundtrack on repeat.

I also have:
The Mouse and Septimus from Stardust OST (favorites)
Pachelbel Canon in D by Barrymore Chamber Orchestra

and tracks from the Twilight - Interpretations for Violin and Piano - to find out whether I still like those songs. :)

message 12: by Jessica-Robyn (new)

Jessica-Robyn | 69 comments Because I end up listening to so many different genres and artists and my mood changes every other day, my playlist normally ends up becoming some sort of mish-mash of individual songs that get collected together over the course of a month. Of course by the end of the month my playlist sometimes starts to sound very bipolar.
Playlists are the new mood rings!

Happy-Jumpy April:
The Wombats - Little Miss Pipedream
The Wombats - School Uniforms
Motion City Soundtrack - Her Words Destroyed My Planet
Santigold Feat. Trouble Andrew - I'm A Lady
The Submarines - You, Me and the Bourgeoisie
Scouting For Girls - Gotta Keep Smiling
Scouting For Girl - Blue As Your Eyes
Save Ferris - I Know (Soundtrack - 10 Things I Hate About You)
Conor Oberst - NYC Gone, Gone

message 13: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Have you guys heard anything by Lissie? She's the VH1 You Oughta Know artist. She kind of reminds me of Stevie Nicks. She's great if you like that old school Indie/Rock music (which I do).

message 14: by [deleted user] (new)

My playlist is all ADELE, from 19 and 21. It's been that way for the past six days, and I'm still not sick of her songs.

Sans That's a great idea, Sash! I'd like to try listening to everything on my iPod at least once. I'd have to discount the audiobooks though.

message 39: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I have always liked country. I am not big on all of the "new age" country, as I like to call it, though. Anything like 2007 and before I am ok with. You've got some good songs there, Sans.

message 40: by Sans (new)

Sans Hey, Rachel! I've missed you lately, how you been?

message 41: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments :) I've been good. Just had a rough, busy month and a half. Moving, finding new jobs, getting internet again, living with my mom (lol, the boyfriend and I love this one...not), and getting used to living in DFW again. Three years in a small town and you kind of forget how life is in the fast lane!

I missed you too, Sans! How have you been??

message 42: by Sans (new)

Sans Wow, I missed a lot with RL crap. I hope you've found work? It's difficult getting used to living with the folks again. Took me several months to get comfortable.

I've been good, stuff has finally settled down at work and I have the energy to read again, so I'm happy. ^o^
