First monthly read for me (ever), becoming a tortoise, late starter and slow reader.
Also first time reading this author.

At the momemnt this reads like a holiday read, something can be picked up and put down. I think the typeface is putting me off.
I have been to the US enough to understand some of the colloquialisms'. There are some nice moments that I can empathise with, like the reading ritual to his daughter.

Slowly getting it, there are some of you like my wife who would have solved it by now. I am just happy to get 50% of the clues correct for the following chapter.
I keep quietly smiling at the inter generational observations.
On course to complete this in May, just as well as it needs to be returned to the library on 1st June !
Dogs of Riga may be a 'May read sometime' in 2011, not withstanding its walkabout from the library.

There is one good thing about the layout - the chapters are short, so reading during the odd break at work is not too much trouble.
Except, and this bugs me, there are multiple sections / story line continuance within chapters, with only small hints of 'same time' chronology.
What did you think of the plot? And the Characters?
