What other websites are you on often besides goodreads?

I shop online alot..i can't help it. I'm always on the urban outfitters website, www.etsy.com, and amazon.

Also..
43things.com
nylonmag.com

there are some others but i can't think of them at the moment.

Justine (paperbackheart) daily: facebook/myspace/livejournal, twitter, flickr, lolcats
not quite daily: 43 things, yelp, amazon, craigslist, wikipedia

message 6: by Spencer (new)

Spencer (spencerafreeman) luckymag.com/ sparkpeople.com/ facebook.com/ gmail.com/ cnn.com/ instyle.com

as for lusting after in terms of shopping: etsy.com/ urbanoutfitters.com/ americanapparel.net/ stevemadden.com/ coach.com

Clearly I don't get much done at work with all the surfing going on ;) !

message 7: by kate (new)

kate (katelucia) Also (and consider this a recommendation!)

nataliedee.com

she's part of a ring of (in my opinion) pretty funny webcomics. They do them daily. And if you like her comics you should try out the links in her top right corner.

It's a certain kind of humor, but it's worth seeing if you like it.

message 8: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) Kate- I love natalie dee. And toothpaste for dinner and married to the sea. You should check out xkcd.com a softer world and perry bible fellowship. Wow I love webcomics. Haha.

message 9: by kate (new)

kate (katelucia) Wow, thanks Justine. Just another thing to spend copious amounts of time on. ;)

I am a Cubs fan so of course Cubs.com is on my daily visit list.
If you have a lot of time to waste, and want a good laugh, faceinhole.com is great fun. It lets you put your friends' and family's faces into existing movie posters, or magazine covers, or I even think there is a cartoon section.

message 12: by Jen (new)

Jen | 111 comments I was wondering if anyone uses any other book club/book recommendation type of websites or is goodreads the only one worth being on. I was just curious if there are other forums similar to here. I love finding new websites to become addicted to haha.

message 23: by Mandee (last edited Feb 06, 2009 03:00PM) (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments The free movie site watch-movies.net is one of my favorite sites (cause I'm a student = broke!). It was gone for a few days (because apparently they were moving) and I thought maybe they were gone forever (SCARY!), but I found them again! Their forum is decent too.
The new address is:
watch-movies-links.net

message 24: by Lorianne (new)

Lorianne (loriannewatts) Are there any movie sites like goodreads? Where you can add a to-read list, etc, etc?

message 25: by Lynnie (new)

Lynnie flixter is kinda like that... but I get annoyed with it.

message 26: by Mandee (new)

Mandee (amandalinajanel) | 378 comments Lorianne wrote: "Are there any movie sites like goodreads? Where you can add a to-read list, etc, etc?"

On watch-movies-links.net you can create your own playlists, but you can't delete them or update your playlist, so if you make a movies-i-need-to-watch playlist it will always exist on your account with the movies you've added to it even after you watch the them. You can browse other user's playlists though (to look for movies you want to see). You can do that by either going to the playlist tab, or by clicking on other user's names and checking to see if they have a playlist. There are no 'private' settings, in case that matters to you...

Of all the movie sites, watch-movies is BY FAR the best (and I've checked a lot), but another good site is hulu.com (they have TV stuff (even some cancelled TV shows) and a smaller selection of movies).

Hope that helps...good luck. (Nothing compares to goodreads though)

Its fantastic!

message 28: by Tahleen (last edited Feb 20, 2009 09:35AM) (new)

Tahleen Aahh these are my favorite sites:

www.joshreads.com (The Comics Curmudgeon--hilarious)

www.katebeaton.com (her livejournal is pretty much the same except more like a blog: beatonna.livejournal.com -- she is also hilarious, i love her)

and failblog.org

message 30: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments I'm on Facebook, Gmail... Whatever I'm reading on my Google Reader. I have quite a few subscriptions (FringeBloggers, Club Trillion, Stuff Under Twenty, etc).
StumbleUpon...

I think that's about it.

I have a Twitter, but I've only used it a couple of times. I'm sure I'll become addicted once I make it more of a habit.

message 31: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (nools) | 145 comments Anna: good call with stumbleupon. I've found so many interesting things with that site!

message 32: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments Haha, thanks, Nools.
It's so addicting! I can sit there for hours, just traveling to random web sites. I love it.
I can't imagine what I'd do during some of my more boring classes without it... lol.

oh boy Anna..you have me addicted to StumbleUpon lol

message 34: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments Lol! Oh no... I should have added a disclaimer to my post. Use of this web site will result in massive quantities of unproductivity.

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod

message 37: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I love stumbleupon. So addicting.

message 38: by Molly (new)

Molly (slinkyxo) | 153 comments Oh god. Stumbleupon is SO addictive. why did i look at this thread? Like I need any more things to make me unproductive!!

message 39: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Harvey I live on my netflix account too much.

message 40: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha thanks guys. I'm pretty sure stumbleupon is going to ruin my life.

message 41: by Anna (new)

Anna (heyannahey) | 67 comments Haha, I hadn't realized so many people checked out StumbleUpon.

Sorry, guys! But it's so great. It's never been easier to just waste hours of time in one sitting.

They even have a feature that allows you to stumble when you're using a computer or browser that doesn't have the toolbar installed. So I can even Stumble at work! lol.

I am not totally sure it is legit, but if I have a few minutes to waste, I like freerice.com. It says it donates rice to the UN Food Program for how much you play their game. Not really challenging, but a good time waster, and hopefully for a good cause.

message 45: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
Tami..I've gone on that site too and I always hope it's legit as well!

message 46: by Tahleen (new)

Tahleen Drew, I've been to asofterworld.com, that guy's friend is Kate Beaton who is my favorite web comic author. Her site is harkavagrant.com and it's hilarious, especially if you like history.

message 47: by David (new)

David (canadiandave) Mario Kart Love Song on Youtube! I am now addicted, although I haven't purchased the MP3 on Amazon yet. Yet. It has supplanted Kiwi and Miss South Carolina the Musical as my favorite Youtube video.
