Great question, Riley. Thanks. Before I started covering professional sports, I covered politics. It was a bit like professional sports, at times. Researching stories for articles did help me when preparing plot points for my stories, especially my series, PrinceFall/KingRise. The complex nature of political campaigns, talking points, canvassing of potential voters - it is incredibly intense and discovering the truth behind what is often told to the media shows a level of planning that can be extreme. Because there is a political struggle within my fantasy series, I used my experience looking at the "real" candidates and their maneuvers to form a plot line that is interwoven with truths, perceived truths and outright misdirection. Honestly, the idea for "PrinceFall" came from a very profound dream. Yes, writers are dreamers and for some reason mine are in full color, sound and sometimes include smell. The dream was so vivid that when I woke up, I grabbed a pen and a spiral notebook and wrote for hours.
