S.J. Himes Nica is actually based on a real-life friend (written with permission and endorsement) and while I love the characters, it will depend on whether or not my friend is comfortable with me expanding upon the character. His brief brush with literary immortality has him content with where we left things (for now.)
S.J. Himes Hi! So sorry, I rarely come to GR and I just saw this.

I am working on book 3 in the Wolfkin Saga. These books are long, complicated, with large ensemble casts so they take me a long time to write, but I am working on it. I'm so glad you enjoyed the first two books. <3
S.J. Himes Hi! Sorry, just saw these questions I am so sorry!!

I am working on book 3. These are long, complicated books with large ensemble casts and they take me forever to write, but I am working on it. It's anew couple, and Burke is one of the MCs. One guess who the other MC is!
And thank you so much--the Wolfkin Saga is the hardest set of books I've ever written, even with ten books out. I appreciate it very much.
S.J. Himes HI Terry!

All of my books are enrolled in Kindle Unlimited and are exclusive to Amazon. At this time it makes more sense for me from a financial standpoint to not go wide with my books. I have tried unsuccessfully (3 times!) to go wide with my books, but each time has been a horrible disaster. The choice is between going wide and needing to work full-time outside the home and writing part-time, or staying exclusive and making enough to keep a roof over my head and food on the table and writing full-time...well, I went with KU. I'm not a big fan of Amazon either, but I went with the option that will let me write full-time.
S.J. Himes Hi!

I can say I have no clue. It depends entirely upon when the narrator can fit the book into his schedule. <3 I will be making an announcement on my profile and online via twitter or FB when production starts. No announcement, it hasn't begun.
S.J. Himes The Wolfkin Saga books take me a long time to write, as they are heavy on plot, character development, and contain large ensemble casts, and will all average in the 100k+ words range.

I intend to BEGIN writing the third Wolfkin Saga book in November or December of this year, and I cannot give a release date. The next book will be focused on Burke, as Ghost and Kane have achieved their HEA. G&K will appear as secondary characters in the rest of the series.
Thank you, and happy reading!

S.J. Himes For BHS#3: I won't have an official publication date until the book is 100% done. That means it needs to finish draft revisions, editing, and formatting, and THEN I'll be able to give an actual, definitive date for publication. I've learned my lesson in regards to picking releases dates before a book is 100% done, as life never lets me get away with them as planned.

I can share I am 99% done with the first draft, and revisions will be next. I was aiming for the end of January but it may be closer to the middle of February. I will post on my profile when I have an accurate date.

For The Wolfkin Saga, the books are complicated and require more structural planning than anything else I write, so the earliest the next book would be ready is late 2018, early 2019, but that is, of course, subject to change. Life doesn't appreciate that I have books I want to write, so I have to aim for a general date and hope I'm going to be close.

S.J. Himes Thank you so much! Wolf of the Nothern Star took a lot out of me, and I almost quit writing trying to get that book finished, so I appreciate the love for it. <3

Burke will be the next full-length novel in the series, with Ghost and Kane taking on supporting roles.

Sophia, Royrick, and Gerald will be seen again, though at this point I don't have plans for them to have a book of their own, as to me, they already have their HEA. No happy ever after is ever perfect, of course, so that may change. At the moment, the triad is not speaking to me, but that may change. I never like saying never.

S.J. Himes Thank you so much! I tried really hard to create a universe that felt fresh and unique.

In regards to continuing the series, I tentatively have 3 more books planned in the series. One os a novella, and two full-length books. Ghost and Kane will be present in the books, but will not be the main characters, as each will focus on new couples. The Wolfkin Saga books are ensemble books, which means multiple POVs and subplots, so a good majority of characters will have page time.

The series is detailed and takes me a good amount of time to write, so the next book is likely to be appearing in late 2018.
S.J. Himes Currently working on it now along with three other titles. I'll post on Facebook and Twitter when it is done. I no longer give out exact release dates before a book is done.
S.J. Himes Hello!

Thank you so much!

In The Wolfkin Saga, I have a novella and two full-length novels planned for the remainder of the series. The novella will be sometime in 2018. The full-length novels are typically 100k+ words, and take longer to write due to the complex plots and numerous characters, so a release once a year in this series is what I am expecting right now.

Happy reading!
S.J. Himes I am so sorry you can't partake in SM due to your situation. Better to be safe than sorry.

I'm on Instagram and tumblr, but I don't really keep up with those at the moment, and my tumblr account has explicit content and NSFW posts and such. I rarely make original posts on tumblr--I do a lot of reblogging of my fav posts. I honestly get exhausted by SM, and the ones I have the energy for are FB and Twitter since i can post on one and it automatically posts to the other.

I can tell you that right now, I am working on three books. Beacon Hill Sorcerer #3, and two gay fantasy romances in my Realms of Love series I am developing. Once I have room on my docket I will be moving in Bred For Love and Wolfkin Saga. You are more than welcome to ask me here on GR, but my presence here is random. I show up if someone sends me a question (like now) or I have a book to upload.
S.J. Himes Hi!

Yes, it is still coming out. I have it scheduled with the formatter for November. This might be pushed back into December if I don't meet the deadline, but I am optimistic at the timing.
S.J. Himes Hello!

The short is answer is no. Not at this time.

The long answer is as follows: It is very expensive. And difficult to produce. There are several reasons for this. Chief of which is the narrator costs. The book is nearly 160k words long. Since I self-publish through Amazon, I use ACX as my audiobook publishing platform. There are two methods of getting a book produced--Royalty Share (Author and narrator split all sales 50/50 in perpetuity) or Pay Per (Finished) Hour, which is paid to the narrator when he or she has completed recording.

The book is estimated at 19 to 21 hours finished, and the average rate is 250 per hour. So, at the high end, I'm looking at over 5k in upfront costs to pay a narrator to produce the book. The book is too long to entice a narrator to take a huge risk on Royalty share production. It would be years before they saw a return on their investment. Not to mention, the difficulty in maintaining and guaranteeing the quality of the narration. The Saga is an ensemble cast, with over a dozen characters in each novel, and would require a serious and intensive amount of effort on the half of the narrator. The amount of work vs the payout from either method is prohibitive at this time.

I do wish it were different, but at this time, The Wolfkin Saga, #1 and #2, will not be heading to audio anytime soon.
S.J. Himes Yes. My whole schedule got delayed by a year due to a giant mess in my RL, but I am back on track. I am aiming for Fall 2017 but I can't give a definite date for sure yet.
S.J. Himes All my title were delayed, including Wolfkin II. I just finished it a few days ago, and it needs to go through edits, beta, and formatting, so it will be out soon. I will announce the release date on facebook and twitter.
