I enjoy the fact I can possibly relate to others without too much personal information being revealed or vise versa. My grandmother; my moms mother. She would encourage me to write my thoughts, feelings,dreams, etc down onto paper. So she had bought me hard back journals to write in. She use to buy me poetry books by Emily Dickinson, and I felt as if I could relate to Emily in her poetry. So I began writing poetry because of Emily Dickinson.... and as for publishing my work, Otep Shamaya from the band "Otep" had published poetry books, and that is what encouraged and inspired me to publish my work.

Thank you so much M.T Magee for the compliment. Writing poetry since I was younger had helped me cope with changes of life,such as death of a loved one. Guess it was a way of grieving as well. Thank you for your respect, and I'm honored to have gained your respect.
P.S - I had followed your profile page! :)

What had got me inspired to write was my grandmother, Sandy and my mother, Kimberly shortly after my stepfather, Darryl had passed away. They both had told me I should start writing down my feelings etc down onto paper. Grandma Sandy then later on had bought me a few hardback journals to start writing my poetry into and to keep then safe. Ever since then ( year. 2005 ) to start writing in my new journals my grandma had bought me and to keep writing my poetry in them!:)

My thoughts have changed slightly, not fully. I actually just got done writing a poem about somebody that is close to me and how it has to do with drug abuse. All of my poetry will always contain some depression, drug use, overdose, Suicide, Love, and more. Only a selected few I look back at today and think to myself "What was I thinking as a teenager?" But then again, I was raised by my brother and my mother (who later got introduced to narcotics) due to my stepfather getting into the car accident when I was 6 years old and passing away when I was 12 years old.
Age 12, I had to become an adult and help my drug induced mother raise my baby sister from age 6 to age 12, then she got taken away from our mother, Mom went to prison and I was on my own. Made mistakes, Did things I should say I regret but i don't and much more.
{Don't want to say too much as I would love to write a book based upon my life growing up to when my mother got out of prison}
But my past is what made me who I' am today! :-)
