I have a lot of tricks I use to shake my brain when I find myself staring at a blinking cursor. Sometimes, a scene isn't working because I need to change the setting or the point of view. Sometimes, a scene just needs to be cut. But usually, I need to revisit the original point of a scene to remind myself what needs to happen in it and why.

I actually came up with the idea for the heroine in Seventh Inning Heat more than ten years ago. (I almost always start with character ideas -- not plot ideas.) But I shelved the idea to work on some other ideas first until finally coming back to it.
