Elizabeth Gonzalez James Thank you so much!! I’m working on another novel that’s actually taken from material I had to cut from The Bullet Swallower. It’s set in Mexico City in 1965, but is its own story and not anything to do with TBS. It’s called Letter to My Husband’s Mistress.
Elizabeth Gonzalez James Mona at Sea was inspired by my own experience of long-term unemployment. It's an experience I haven't seen much in fiction, and I really felt that someone needed to write about what it feels like to be inside that horrible and hopeless time.
Elizabeth Gonzalez James I am on the 4th draft of my second novel, a magical realism western based on my great-grandfather, who was a bandido.
Elizabeth Gonzalez James Read everything, read often. Read the classics, read the popular books, read hard books, read fun books, and read more Latinas.

Elizabeth Gonzalez James I can do it in 5 words: Fruit on the bottom yogurt.
Elizabeth Gonzalez James I would go straight to Hogwarts and get sorted (even though I know I'm 100% Ravenclaw) and then see if I get cell reception in there. I have a lot of thoughts about how cell phones would obviate a lot of the magic in HP.
Elizabeth Gonzalez James The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath has been on my list forever, and I think I'm finally going to read it. And I can't wait for Velvet Was the Night by Sylvia Moreno Garcia!
