I would have to say Ross and Demelza Poldark. I first came across them in the mid 1970s when I watched the original TV series with my mother. I loved Demelza's inner strength and how, over time, she adapted from her humble beginnings to be a perfect match for Ross. Together, they made a formidable team, yet they were both imperfect. She was a steadying force for him, he inspired her to rise above her station in life. They both have character flaws, perhaps Ross more than Demelza, but sometimes the imperfections of a character make them perfect fictional characters to fall in love with.
