Oh, thank you, Becky!! That makes me so happy. I really do write to connect with people so this means the world to me.
I'm finishing up my fourth novel now but I have a lot of revising to do this summer/fall, so I don't know yet. I'll update as soon as I can :) I will say that I adore the story and characters and if you like my others, you'll enjoy it. It's very me. Secrets, unconventional family, nostalgia, friendship & a West Coast setting, with -- I hope -- a propulsive plot laden with mystery.

I travel to Savannah pretty frequently so I'm sure I'll do an event at a bookstore there down the road.

I'm drafting a new novel for Graydon House, and I'm obsessed with the story. I've found that if I talk about my books too early, it can kill the magic in my little writing cave. But it involves cousins and an unusual extended family, and the setting is the wild coast of Humboldt County, Calif. Part of the story takes place in 1979. Can't wait to share more!

I get to half-live in another world. At first it's sparse and a little cold, and the characters are strangers. But if I work hard enough it gradually becomes a warm, welcoming place, with inhabitants so real they occasionally surprise me.

THE SUMMER LIST is about two girlhood best friends who reunite for a grown-up scavenger hunt after 17 years apart.
I was camping with my family by the Oregon coast five years ago when a pack of kids ran up with a scavenger hunt list their parents had written to keep them entertained. I gave them a graham cracker...I don't remember what else was on the list. I do remember that they looked ecstatic, rushing up to strangers, strategizing, caught up in the thrill of the game.
In THE SUMMER LIST the scavenger hunt has its funny, light moments, but it takes on a deeper meaning as the novel progresses. The items and Polaroids Laura and Casey gather tell a bittersweet story about their friendship. They force them to revisit the terrain of the past. I loved that idea of being forced to reconnect, and how objects hold layers of meaning.
I also LOVED that dopey Scavenger Hunt movie from the 1970s. It used to run on Cinemax a lot; as a kid I watched it obsessively.
