Kim Harrison Hi Morgana,
Dali created the University ley line. It took him a long time to pull himself out of it, which is why it's so wide and long. I did mention it somewhere, but I'm not surprised you missed it as it was not terribly important to the plot line.

I've asked about getting The Outlaw Demon Wails re-read, but Harper won't go for it. I am extremely grateful that my agent at the time pushed to get Marguerite back. I may be the architect of the Hollows, but she is the voice.

Kim Harrison Hi Jay. Demon's Bluff is not the end, no. Can't trust Google, so I'm glad you came to ask. I'm delivering the next Hollows book to my editor in a few weeks, and there is no plan to end the series at this time.

Kim Harrison Hi Heather,

Thank you so much for your "question!" I'm so pleased you found some healthy escapism in my work when you needed it. Finding balance is what it's all about sometimes. I don't have any plans on stopping the Hollows, but I am taking some time to work in a few of my other projects focusing on older protagonists dealing with a new set of problems. --Kim
Kim Harrison Hi Donna. I'm so glad you enjoyed the first three serialized Eclipse books! I have two more full-length books planned, and am working on the next one this very moment.
It hurts my heart when a publisher decides not to buy the next book, too. It leaves a big, uncomfortable space, and I'm still trying to figure out how to get the last Drafter book on the shelf.
Kim Harrison Yes! It is next on my desk. Don't look for it for a few years, though!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! The next installment will be a full-length book.

Kim Harrison Hi Super Tee.
As for the Drafter series. Gallery is republishing the first two (Drafter and the Operator) in trade, and my agent sent them the third one, so if they do well in this new release, they might pick it up. If they don't, I am going to find another way. I like having a big publisher do some of the heavy lifting, but I'm tired of waiting. It might be a nice way to break into self-pub. Things look good for the Eclipse books to finish out with the Hollows, and Petra Grady's second installment is at the publisher's at this very moment!
Kim Harrison Thank you, Eleanor! I'm so glad you are enjoying it. I'm actually waiting for a promised contract which will likely include the next "chapter." I totally get wanting to read something different. I am a SF buff at heart, and have written "different" in the past, always coming back refreshed from it. If you want something really different from my pen, try Perfunctory Affection. ;-)
Kim Harrison There is! It's called Ley Line Drifter, and can be found in the anthology, Unbound.
Kim Harrison Thank you Kara, I'm so glad you enjoyed the Truth books! I did too, and you might be surprised how often I think about Alyssa and Strell, Lodish and Useless. Unfortunately, I'm so busy with new material, that I will likely never write that third book that is simmering in the back of my brain.

Kim Harrison Hi, Ashley,
I'm so glad you're enjoying the Hollows! Thank you. You asked how did I know which characters I wanted to kill off? Well, I didn't want to kill any of them. I followed the course of the story, and if a character would impede or prevent what needed to happen, and I couldn't realistically get them out of the books another way (like send them to "camp vampire") they had to go. Kisten was one. Ceri another. It made sense that Ceri would die trying to remove a serious threat, and it was off page because I didn't want it to become the focus of the story.
Kim Harrison If sales warrant it. It's up to the publisher, but having said that, if they choose not to, I probably have some wiggle room to get the rights back and I will do it myself. Just don't look for it any time soon if that's the case! ;-)
Kim Harrison It's not up to me, Shoshanna, but I can say that my movie-right's guy, Dan Angel, is working on it. The Hollows is not easily pegged into a hole to know what it is and how to market it, (quirky) and LA is very distractible, so it's going to take some time.
Kim Harrison Thank you, Lindzey! I'm so glad you liked them. Yes. I have two more full-length novels planned. No commitment from the publisher yet as this was a one-off, but if they say no, I'll probably do it myself. ;-)
Kim Harrison Hi Sue.

The three short books are actually one divided up, and I've got two more planned to finish the story threads. Third one is actually written, so just the middle one to do. Eclipsed Evolution was kind of pushed through with this odd format at the spur of the moment because though I wrote it in several years ago, it languished until there was a chance to publish it when there was an actual eclipse happening.
And funny you should ask about testing a new series. I've got about three series at various stages laying around because they don't have vampires in them. I am hopeful that I can slowly bring them to light as I continue to publish the Hollows, but it's been a rather depressing fight.
So we'll see.
Kim Harrison Congratulations! That is fantastic that you made the jump to published writer! I'm so glad you are enjoying the Hollows. I really don't have a good answer, except perhaps to have that second book on your desk and working on it before the first one actually hits the shelf.
Kim Harrison Not at its core, no. I would certainly update it. It's twenty years old, after all.
Kim Harrison Thank you, Kristy. I'm so glad you're enjoying them! FOC has been hard to find in HC for a long time. Harper only did a limited HC run for the library trade. I was told that when they moved offices, the "plates" were destroyed, and that they would not be remade. Keeping in mind that the book is almost 20 years old... yeah. I agree that the asking price is a little mind blowing, but you can still find one now and then. Good luck!
