If I was brave and invincible, I’d go to Westeros (Game of Thrones/Song Of Ice And Fire), and ride a dragon.
If I was normal weedy self and not wanting to risk death, I’d go to Longbourn and sit around being amused by Elizabeth Bennett - or better still, go on her tour of Derbyshire and visit Pemberley, and giggle as she grows to like Mr Darcy.

The zombies came, tore apart my children and turned my man.
He ate my arms and legs, then left.
The aliens crawl in through ears from cellphones, and they’re eating your brains.
I worried I was going crazy when you didn’t believe me, but now I know it’s not your fault, it's them – so I’m gonna dig those aliens out.
Coronavirus mega-deaths are a lie – a scamdemic – a conspiracy – or the Wuhan lab’s fault.
They will all pay, and I will be President again!

I finished Heartsblood, Book Three in the Children Of The Furnace series, a while ago but editing and revision has taken some time. The end result is worth it though – this will be a truly stunning finale to the series. I’m thrilled that the logic of it is absolutely satisfying – and the way things resolve, some more and some definitely less well, is worthy of the characters’ difficult journey. Gritty, hardcore, absolutely heart-stopping finale in every way – no easy answers or saccharine happy-ever-afters for Wil, Jace or Leah here – but I won’t say more, don’t want to give too much away.
Just trust me – if you are a fan, you WILL NOT be disappointed.
Heartsblood is coming out later this year, October 2020.
Apart from that – I’ve got a few other ideas I’m playing around with, some radically different from COTF. One is a contemporary story of a young British girl who finds out her natural father is an incredibly wealthy American businessman. But I’ve stalled a bit because – can you guess? Tripping back and forth across the Atlantic might not ring too true for the next long while, with Covid-19 putting a stopper on air travel. So I’m just pondering whether to write the virus in – and if I do, how will it fit?
