When will you write another DD Warren book? I miss her and Flora Dane.

Lisa Gardner I agree! I miss them too, and have definitely heard from readers on my August book tour for KISS HER GOODBYE they want more! I will continue to brainstorm the right case for DD and Flora’s return. So probably not a 2026 release, but stay tuned.

Lisa Gardner I’ve always been partial to LOVE YOU MORE, as it’s about how far a mother would go to save her child. Also ONE STEP TOO FAR, as it features my love of hiking. 😊 Hope that helps!

I'm a huge Frankie Elkin fan, finished the three books, totally devoured them. Frankie is fabulous in so many ways, faults and all. When's the next FE book coming out please Lisa ? :)

Hello! I am currently reading “Touch and Go”, and I’m thinking it might just be my favorite book of yours so far. Question: when Radar is in a scene, I can’t avoid picturing Gary Burghoff. I know you referenced him early in the book, but was it your intention to have him be the mental image for the reader?

Lisa Gardner That was the mental image I had. Happy it worked for you, too, LOL. MASH remains one of my all time favorite shows. 😊

Lisa Gardner I would like to at some time, but my next release, Still See You Everywhere out March 2024 will be a Frankie Elkin book. So happy you love Flora Dane. I miss her, too!

Do I have to read the Frankie Elkin books in order?

Lisa Gardner No. Each book’s plot stands on its own, though the best way to experience Frankie’s growth is to read in order.

Lisa Gardner Yes! I am working on the next Frankie book now, due out 2024. This time she is on a remote island in the Pacific looking for a young girl who may have been kidnapped—and who happens to be the sister of a notorious serial killer. Needless to say, murder and mayhem ensue. Stay tuned for more details!

Lisa Gardner Yes! Next Frankie book will be out 2024. I took a sabbatical in 2022, hence no book out this year, but don’t worry. I’m back to happily writing away and filled with even more interesting ideas on how to get away with murder!

Lisa Gardner I am so sorry I failed to assist you with reading bingo. And what a great idea! Now I want to play! I recommend everything by Karin Slaughter and Sarah J. Maas (young adult, love her two series!). Love Lisa Unger, including last year’s Confessions on the 7:45 and this year’s upcoming release Last Girl Ghosted. And so excited for Riley Sager’s Survive the Night.

What books are on your summer reading list this year?

Lisa Gardner New Karin Slaughter book and new Riley Sager. Sager’s novel is SURVIVE THE NIGHT. I love it based on the title alone!

I know from your other answers you're not always sure if and when you'll bring a character/heroine back, but I am hoping to see more of Frankie Elkin. I just finished "Before She Disappeared" and would love more of her. Great research on that book - it really shows. Will we see Frankie?

I read "Before She Disappeared" and looking back on the cover art, it just strikes me as odd that the cover art has absolutely NOTHING to do with the book. It is just so completely annoying that I must raise this issue. There is no water in the book. There is no body of water in the book. There is nothing to do with water at all in this book. How could you approve the cover art with this in mind?

Lisa Gardner There is water in the book. The prologue. That’s what inspired the cover.
