If I get blocked, I step away. Go for a walk, hike, read something, play a video game...anything to get my mind off of it until I come back with fresh eyes.

You have an open canvas to paint what you want. It is your story and you decide what goes where. I enjoyed the process. Seeing my story come together. The funny thing was, some characters took on a life of their on and I enjoyed writing them. You start off with a plan and sometimes you stick to it, other times you get invested in characters you never thought you would get invested in and it makes your story that much better.

If I can write a book, anyone can! I am a math teacher and never cared much for writing, but I love stories and love reading good stories. I like telling stories as well, so I decided to give writing a try, and I am glad I did. If I can figure this stuff out, anyone can. Just keep at it, don't get discouraged, and write what you want to read (and what you think others might like as well).

I have several things brewing at the moment. I have started 3 separate horror novels and I have about 5 chapters written as a sequel to my first novel, "Escapement."

After I have all my ideas written down and mapped out, I try to make sure I get at least one chapter done per night, especially when I have the ideas flowing. I like to write it all out and let it sit, then edit it the next day. I get inspired when the people closest to me want to read what I have written and get excited about what comes next.

Believe it or not, it came between a conversation I was having with a friend of mine. We were discussing our favorite sci-fi films and books, and both started discussing if we could come up with something, what would it be? From there, ideas were thrown around and it snowballed into what is now my first book, "Escapement."
