Michelle Zink So sorry it took me so long to get back to you, Rachel. These questions don't appear in any easy to read spot on the site. I have to go to my dashboard to see them, and I sometimes forget to do that.

My publisher won't release the novellas in print version. This is true of most novellas and short stories, because the costs associated with printing are high compared to the price people will pay for a shorter story (which is why you see a lot of short story anthologies). I hope you get a chance to read them anyway.

I have a film agent for the Prophecy series, but no news yet. The best way to get there is to keep talking about the book and spreading the word.

Thanks so much for reading!

Michelle Zink It's definitely more of the former, Elias. There is a love story, but the book is more about the plot and the action (and the world, which I think is pretty cool). It's one of my very favorites, and I still hope to write a spin off book or series someday.

Thanks so much for reading!

Michelle Zink I love all my readers back!

Michelle Zink It is a duology, Sarah! And Promises I Made will be out in November, so you don't have long to wait now.
;)
Michelle Zink Thank you so much, Jessica! Grace has a special place in my heart for sure. The second and final book, PROMISES I MADE, will be out in November. And I have to admit, I get weepy every time I read it.
;)
Michelle Zink So sorry for the delay in answering this! Lies I Told is the first in a two-book series. The second and final book, PROMISES I MADE, will be out this November.

Michelle Zink Hi, Tattoolily! Alice was taken to the Otherworlds by Samael, a sacrifice she made to save Lia's life. She could be trapped in the Otherworlds or she could have joined her mother, father, and Henry in the final world. I suppose only time will tell... ;)

I have a companion series based around the Altus characters (and Lia after she goes there with Dimitri), but I haven't figured out how to get it to readers as of yet. In the meantime, there are three digital shorts, Whisper of Souls, Mistress of Souls, and Rise of Souls, available on Barnes & Noble, iTunes, and Amazon. I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you've had a chance to check out my other work.

Thanks for being such a loyal reader!

Michelle Zink Hi, Linsey! I get so many emails about this, and they always make me sad because the truth is, I'd always intended to write a second book from Raum's point of view after he leaves Helen. I even had it outlined. But the truth is, my publisher didn't pick it up, and I haven't figured out how to get the story to you. I really want to, though, so keep in touch. In the meantime, I hope you get the chance to try some of my other work. Thanks for being such a loyal reader!

Michelle Zink You are absolutely right; Rise of Souls is meant to be a bridge to a companion series focused on the people of Altus, many of whom you met in the Prophecy trilogy. Unfortunately, I don't have a concrete timeline for you as of now, but I'm committed to bringing them to you eventually -- one way or another! Thanks so much for being such a loyal reader. It means the world to me.

Michelle Zink I always planned a companion series for TEMPTATION, but sadly, my publisher opted not to pick it up. I'm disappointed because I get so many emails asking about a sequel, and I had a great companion outlined with Raum as the MC of the next book. But c'est la vie. Such is publishing. Thanks so much for being such a loyal reader. It means so much to me!

Michelle Zink I try to get out of my own head. It used to be a bigger problem for me, but meditation has helped me a lot. Still, sometimes I need to go to the movies or go on a hike or take a trip into the city for a day. Anything to get out of my own head for awhile. I almost always come back inspired and prepared to go to work!

Michelle Zink Of course, I always advocate the usual advice; read and write as much as possible. But I would add two other things. First, FINISH something. Finishing my first novel was a turning point in my career. Finally, I could see the process from start to finish and that gave me so much insight into the process. Second, LIVE. I begin to struggle writing when I've been in my comfort zone too long. It's good to have new experiences and different people and places to spark your imagination. And it's just more to write about!

Michelle Zink I'm currently working on three things; a travel-related YA book, a straight up YA romance (new for me, experimental, but fun!), and an adult thriller. The two YA books are in the very early stages as I've just finished PROMISES I MADE, the sequel to LIES I TOLD. But the adult thriller is complete, and now I'm just doing some revisions before I try to find it a home. I always have more ideas than time to execute them!

Michelle Zink That's a tough one. I think many writers are born, not made, and that was definitely true for me. I've been a bookworm and writer for as long as I can remember, all the way back to angst poetry in middle school, which by the way, is a right of passage for most writers.

Michelle Zink So sorry for the delay! Goodreads didn't make it easy to find these questions
;)

I got the idea for LIES I TOLD watching an 80s movie called GRIFTERS (it has John Cusack, so yanno, WIN!). It was a kind of noir, tangled web thriller, very dark, and it got me wanting to write something about con artists. LIES isn't noir, but it's a great backdrop for the questions of identity that I think we all have, especially when we're young and we're struggling to figure out how much of who we are is what OTHER people say we are and who we really, REALLY are underneath it all.
