Why does Stacy continue to interact with a family that lies to her in the most hurtful ways possible, over and over again?

Stacy's family dynamic is complicated. More complicated than most. The loss of her parents at a young age shaped her in unexpected ways. And her path--the path forged by fate--was derailed for a long time.

But destiny has a way of finding you.

Stacy's story is larger than family, larger than just being a witch and the Geraghtys understand this, better than she herself does. In their eyes, and in a very real way, their lies are protecting Stacy not only from the danger that hunts her, but from herself.

And deep down, the Seeker knows this.

Some people are toxic. They intentionally hurt others for selfish or narcissistic reasons without care or regret. Those people--family or not--would have no place in Stacy's life.

But the secrets the Geraghtys keep are withheld for a reason. Right or wrong, their intentions are pure. They believe that until Stacy is ready to fully embrace the power of who she is and the responsibility that comes with it, she needs to be shielded.

Stacy, of course, thinks this is baloney. But she knows her family loves her. She knows they've made sacrifices for her, and she would do the same for them. She forgives them because they deserve to be forgiven.

Once you find your characters, how do you find the stories to tell? It seems like your books are just one really long story. Did you plan it that way, or is that how the characters came to you?

Barbra Annino Do you mean the Stacy Justice series? Nothing is planned in advance. I'm a pantser which means the characters tell me their story rather than the other way around. I'm often surprised by the characters that walk onto the page and where the story runs off to. With Stacy's world, I originally wanted to write simple cozy murder mysteries set around pagan holidays with no series threads. She had other ideas.

Hi Barbra, My husband & I have owned 6 Great Danes over our 33 year marriage. At this time, we only Maverick, our grey merle. We have had up to 3 of them at a time before. I was wondering what types you have and what there names are? Our oldest lived to be 13, but we have lost them as young as 3 months. It is so painful to lose your babies.

Currently we have 2 Danes, a female fawn named Stacy and a male brindle named Dresden. We have had 7. One lived to be 13 and another was 12. The youngest we lost was at 14 months. He was a rescue. Only had him 6 months. It's heartbreaking to lose them.
