I've recently started using #ChrisFox's sprint method for writing when I hit a wall. It's helped improve the number of words I write.

If you're self published, learn how to advertise. It's a completely different game and mentality from the creative side, but if you want to make a living doing it, go through the process.
It's likely you won't get it right away but keep working at it. Persistence is rewarded with a dash of hard work and ingenuity.

Currently, I'm writing short stories for an upcoming horror anthology (the sequel to The Immanent World), working on the planning stages of a new series about a Historical Paranormal Investigator for hire, and finishing the fifth draft of Dorian Delmontez' 10th Birthday.

Kana Cold is the next book I'm writing and it's a strange way in which I got the idea.
I spend some Sunday evenings watching those weird Top 10 videos on YouTube about really strange things. Channels like Matthew Santoro, Top 10 Archive, Dark 5, The Boo Review, Beyond Science etc. all deal with some strange tales about situations and items that may or not be true. Everything from cryptids to creepypastas to real world artifacts that have a supernatural legend surrounding them are what these videos examine.
One night I thought "Man, there's so much information and so many of these stories that someone should write a series of books about ... oh wait, I'm a writer!".
It took about ten minutes to come up with Kana and her personality and what the first five books would be about. From there, I was off to the races.
