Hi, thanks for reading.
As of this moment, bearing in mind plans might change, the Legacy of Caliban trilogy is complete. Which I suppose answers your other questions as well - the Curse of the Wulfen is something entirely separate and comes directly from the Design Studio.
I'm currently writing a book that takes us back to the early days of Azrael's command, but after that my attention will be turning away from the Dark Angels. (However, I might return to the Consecrators at some point as I had a lot of fun with the Chapter Master in The Unforgiven.)

That was the intent when I wrote it - though not necessarily all of them would be written by me.

Hi Matt,
Well, I'd do more work on The City of Eternal Days, an original fiction series I've been working on for the last twenty months or so... Which is what I hope to be doing in October. However, the constraint of time, deadlines in particular, is one of my prime motivators so I have to set myself goals anyway otherwise the work simply expands to the time available. I'm posting a blog entry soon on how I try to work as efficiently as possible.
But really, if time and money were no issue at all I'd like to spend more time on games design and maybe bring one of my backburner projects to a publishable state.

Most of the Old Gods have been consumed by the Chaos gods, though it is possible that fragments, echoes and even physical incarnations of the pantheons from World Before may have survived in the Mortal Realms.

We knew (well, could work out) that something big was happening after The End Times because when we were wokring on those novels and stories BL/ GW wouldn't tell us anything about what was coming after! I don't know when the authors working on the earlier titles had their 'Stanley Briefing' (Stanley being the codename of the AoS project) but I went into GW HQ a few weeks before the general announcement and learnt what was happening and received PDFs of the first book releases.

The first draft of Angels of caliban is currently sitting on an editor's desk awaiting it's turn. It's really rough (lots ot fit in and much chopping around required) and needs a lot of work, so I wouldn't infer anything about when it'll hit the shelves from that nugget of info.

I think the quick answer is no, with Age of Sigmar upon us I don't see any opportunities to go back and write about the World That Came Before. As for how they operate int he new setting, I really have no idea what is planned yet. I wish I had written more about the dwarfs when I had the chance, I'm just happy I managed to get Doom of Dragonback out into the wilds while Time of Legends was still going.

(view spoiler)[Hi, Gav! I read the news about Malerion and I am very excited! Would you write a book about him? (hide spoiler)]
Gav Thorpe
I really don't know, I'd have to see how things develop and what is in store for him. Would be cool to continue the journey though, from the very beginning and actually past the end. So much we don't know yet about the new universe, we'll have to wait and see.
Gav Thorpe
Well... I don't want to spoil anything but you'll be getting a glimpse of that when Angels of Caliban gets released. But yes, it is a fascinating topic and maybe one I'll get to explore in a short or audio (I can't see a crusade-era story taking up a full novel slot).

I miss him too! I would love to go back a write a prequel, set on Ichar IV, but at the moment that is not likely to happen.

Nice question.
Holder of the Keys is really a Horus Heresy story in disguise, being mostly an account of the battle of Caliban from one of the Fallen. It could be any time since Ezekiel became Chief Librarian.
Sammael's tale in A Hunt in the Dark predates Purging of Kadillus, as does Honour of the Third.
Accept no Failure takes place just before the start of Master of Sanctity but has flashbacks to the Purging of Kadillus.
The novels go: Purging of Kadillus, Angels of Darkness, Ravenwing, Master of Sanctity and The Unforgiven.
Battle Brothers spins off from Ravenwing.
All Must End occurs during Master of Sanctity.
Did I miss any?

It is the first in a series on the Phoenix Lords. Each book will be linked by a thematic narrative but there won't be a direct arc as such - just because Asurmen is the first in the series doesn't mean it is the first to occur chronologically. That'll make more sense when you read the opening.
As well as a 'present day' 40k story (one set sometime in the last few thousand years, at least) we also get a story from the days of the Fall. In this case the second narrative examines how Asurmen came to be the first Phoenix Lord.

This summer. I hope readers will have a sense of conclusion but it's never been my aim to explain everything about the history of the Dark Angels. Readers can piece together some answers but I don't want to eliminate debate and controversy, they are important elements of the background and the Dark Angels in particular.
The end of a series is always a bit more fraught than the previous too books - the last instalment is the one most readers will take with them and colours the whole trilogy. I think The Unforgiven will deliver on the promises of the opening two books.

I would say Dark Angels, because they have an in-built conflict of secrecy and lies. Most Space Marines are such a brotherhood you have to work harder to provide conflict between them, but the Dark Angels come ready-made with agendas!
I also enjoy writing about those Space Marines that have broken their oaths and gone renegade - they allow personality and selfishness to drive the stories.
