Emme, good grief! I see you asked with question four months ago and I didn't see it until today.
In the beginning of this series, I gave names that I felt had " weight," like Noah Lalla's Dad who is the patriarch of the family.
These days, new characters are from winners in a raffle at my newsletter. Four people won for my newest book A DEAD RED HORSE THIEF coming out in October, 2019. Check out my for free books and goodies. website: http://rpdahlke.com

Readers! I'm happiest when I hear that a reader loves my newest book!
Want to know a secret? By the time I finish a book, I absolutely HATE it. Never want to see it again...well, until I have to read at a book club and my audience giggles at something one of the characters says.

When a municipal judge in Arizona ruled out roosters within the city limits of Bisbee, Arizona, the locals took exception to the new law and marched on city hall and the courthouse.
Through it all I wondered what would happen if the protestors released a cage full of chickens into the courthouse.
Out of that idea, I used the protest as cover as plot for a murder of the judge, and once again my readers won't get who-done-it until the very end.
