Ask the Author: Rolynn Anderson

“In my novel, FIRE IS NICE, my heroine has lost her sense of fear because of a brain injury suffered on duty as an FBI agent. Wow...tough to describe fearlessness.

Rolynn Anderson I don't believe in Writer's Block. I write every day no matter how I feel and no matter what I do/don't have to say. I say there is no such thing as a muse...the more I write, the more I improve! To myself, I say there is no excuse NOT to write today!
Rolynn Anderson FEAR LAND's 'study' of the many shades of anxiety (and types of trauma), comes from my own experience with trauma. And I made this a suspense novel which cranked up the stress for my already-anxious characters. The research was so interesting to me, especially my review of PTSD studies, that I decided to give a portion of my sales to brain research (neuroscience): The Brain Research Foundation (TheBRF.org)
Rolynn Anderson People I meet, articles I read (especially in the New York Times), and places I visit. Settings mean everything to me. Lie Catchers, set in Petersburg, Alaska, was such fun to write, because the town is full of Norwegians (my heritage).
Rolynn Anderson FEAR LAND is my newest release. A psychiatrist’s attempt to help a soldier and his son struggling with shades of anxiety, puts them all on a collision course with corrupt, revengeful foes.
Rolynn Anderson Write every day for a certain amount of time...at least an hour. If you begin this ritual when you are young, you'll be a fabulous writer by the time you're ready to devote more time to the art. The point is don't wait for 'the right time' or the 'muse.' Keep writing!
Rolynn Anderson Every morning I sit down at my desk with my computer screen open-faced and the cursor winking at me. We share a secret, my computer and I...neither one of us knows what this writing segment will bring. At the end of four hours, we'll both be surprised by what came from my mind to the screen. That's my joy about being a writer!
