I've been reading a lot of psychological thrillers. About 1 a week.

I don't read much romance, so it's difficult for me to think "couples". I have my own couples in some of my work, but I don't want to pick one of my own. That would seem cheesy.
Since I do read some m/m romance I will pick Logan and Tate from Ella Frank's Temptation series. I pick them because this series was the only romance that I've ever got totally immersed in and actually started reading a second time. I loved those two men!

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for asking me a question.
Oh, sure. I think every author dreams about their novel becoming a movie or series on cable. I'd rather see the series happen so all five books could be enventually told...and less details would have to be left out because it wouldn't be confined to a couple of hours. I can always dream, right?
As far as who would play Gastien, I would prefer it to be someone new and fresh. That way when he walked down the street, people would think "There's Gastien" instead of "There's (insert any famous movie star name).
It would be cool to have an open casting call. Of course, I would want to be there! (I'd invite you, too. :) )

Well, it's a continuation of a story of which the first three novels are published. The original idea popped into my head as I drove down a highway one night with my husband. I had finished The Gastien Series and wasn't sure what I wanted to write next. All of a sudden "house of pleasure, house of pain" resounded in my head. Next came "house of trickery, house of shame". I knew then I had four titles and would tell the story of girls who are sex trafficked. Men see houses of prostitution as fun and glamorous. The pain in these victims lives is anything but fun. I wanted to show how ugly sex trafficking really is, and give my victims revenge.

Breast cancer. I had always wanted to write a novel "someday". Getting cancer woke me up; taught me there is only now. That was 4 years ago. Now I have 8 published novels and a 4th in editing. (The cancer was caught early and is gone.)

I just finished the first draft of House of Shame, the final book in the There Was a House saga yesterday. Now it moves on to editing.

Get the first draft done. Keep going without editing. Until you have a completed first draft there is nothing to edit.

Hopefully causing people to think, or at least feel and react. I write books that push boundaries, that show you life decisions aren't black & white, but mostly shades of grey. My books cause strong feelings, both positive and negative and that's okay. I don't want to write bland stories. As a reader, make me laugh, cry, cringe, understand, piss me off, but don't bore me. As a writer, I hope to do the same for others.
My stories aren't for everyone. Many are dark and raw, with strong language, graphic sex and violence. Very often the sex isn't for titillation. Sex can be many things: abuse of power, a struggle to have power, a misguided way to feel loved.
Also, my novels are usually character driven, and have a lot of internal dialog. If a reader is expecting formula writing, with a clear cut story arc and all kinds of action they will be disappointed. I don't depend on things blowing up or people being shot at for my plots. I also "tell" instead of "show" many times. That's what omniscient POV is, but many people have never read that writing style and don't get it or are too impatient for it. Yes, I know the current saying, "Show, don't tell." However, I also know the saying "Tell me a story". That's what I do, but you need to be patient and immerse yourself, trust me, and let me take you somewhere. It probably won't be a pretty place, but you'll feel. Read between the lines. Think. "Make me think. Make me feel." That's what I strive for.
People who prefer their stories single layered, without deeper meaning, won't necessarily enjoy my work. Don't get me wrong. I don't use obscure words or write paragraphs of nonsensical whimsey. But I do tell it "real" and my characters aren't without major warts. Sometimes they never change. Abuse of power and the struggle of those without power are major themes of mine.
Readers who only read for escape and to feel happy are not generally my readers. As a reader I dislike light stories, predictable characters, and fluffy, "happy happy" stuff. So why would I write it? No matter what genre I write, it will always be a drama. That's why my tagline is "Novels showcasing the sublime joy and bitter tragedy of being human".

So far I haven't suffered from writer's block. I'm very thankful. Maybe it's because I'm a total "pantster". I sit at the keyboard and let the character tell the story. My characters seem to be very anxious to have their stories told!
