Michael Gerhartz I usually get my ideas and stories under water. That's where I can relax most. The issues that DARK TIMES addresses can be seen every day on the television or in the internet.
Michael Gerhartz I read a few books in the same genre, and I was always disappointed that the hero(s) always seemed to have unlimited financial funds, were bullet proof and could take on all their enemies without help. I find those stories entertaining, but not very realistic. I tried to create more human like characters, who have bills to pay and bleed if they get shot at. I also wanted to incorporate issues that matter to me, as in THIN ICE, the whole book story plays in the North West Passage, with global warming hanging over the book all the time. DARK TIMES is different. It talks about the child abuse scandal through the church, human trafficking and white supremacists who want to fight global terrorism.
Michael Gerhartz Promoting "DARK TIMES" by the means of book readings and interviews.
Michael Gerhartz Go ahead and give it a try. Every book starts with the first letter. Don't pressure yourself and stay true to yourself.
Michael Gerhartz Your imaginations are without limits. You can create characters, built them, and let them grow. It also presents a great opportunity to address political or environmental issues.
Michael Gerhartz I usually try to get my mind off the book for a couple days by enjoying nature above and below the water. It usually inspires me and the solution presents itself.
