Not read any Trelawny books yet but instantly attracted by Trelawny's name - presumably he's named after, or based on, Dr Trelawny in Anthony Powell's "A Dance To The Music Of Time" series, who is himself, in part, based on the 'Great Beast 666' (aka Aleister Crowley) who died in penury after a career not dissimilar to Dr Trelawney's. All part of your fiendishly cunning plan?

E.O. Higgins No. But that's quite interesting. I have a vague idea I had to read Powell's journal for A-level, but can't really remember too much about. Hmm, I will investigate. Thanks, Nigey! Edward.

Please, please. In your next Trelawny adventure, make him eat something - all that cherry brandy on an empty stomach had me reeling. Other than that, I enjoyed Conversations with Spirits lots and was so glad that Billy decided to come up to London after all. Will the Black Magician in the next book be based on a real person (such as was Harry Price) or will you be pulling him (or her) out of your hat?

E.O. Higgins Ooh, quite a spoiler there, Pat. The Black Magician will be fictitious (though based on Aleister Crowley) - however, there will be real-life historical figures appearing too! I'm pleased you liked the book. This makes me happy! xx

I really enjoyed your book, but are you planning to put Trelawny in another story by chance? Although being a drunk and a chain-smoker he is also a very likeable character.

This one has Trelawney (and Billy) pitted against a Black Magician.

I'm afraid one of the characters doesn't make it to the end....
