When I wrote Miller's story, I was very mindful that people wouldn't understand him. But I couldn't let that change his character. He's very special, and once readers finished his story, I hope they understand him a lot more than when they first meet him :-)

That part of their story was always going to cause a grievance, I knew that. But it was part of the story and whatever his reasoning was, I had to write it. Jesse struggled with his feelings for Ava, as we all know. They were so intense, he didn't know what to do with them. He made some stupid moves, but like I said, all part of the story. Emotional ups and downs :-)
