Suzanne Redfearn Drip...drip...drip... The sound was coming from somewhere overhead.
Suzanne Redfearn Sorry for the delayed response. I just stumbled on this page and realized readers had sent in questions I hadn't replied to. Thank you for reading it and reviewing it. Best, Suzanne
Suzanne Redfearn Sorry for the delayed reply. I just stumbled on this page and realized there were questions from readers I hadn't replied to. We just sold the audio rights for HUSH LITTLE BABY a couple months ago. It can take up to a year for the production, but be on the lookout at the beginning of next year.
Suzanne Redfearn Sorry for the delayed reply. I just stumbled on this page and realized there were questions from readers I hadn't replied to. There are a few swear words used during stressful moments by some of the characters. It is not a profane book, but if you are sensitive to your teen reading expletives, then perhaps wait to suggest it until your child is older.
Suzanne Redfearn Sorry for the delayed reply. I just stumbled on this page and realized readers have been asking me questions. I don't really know what is technically wrong with Oz. I based him on the character Lenny from OF MICE AND MEN. Steinbeck's character was so incredibly moving and I love the idea of goodness and danger being combined. He definitely had a developmental disability, but I never delved into how he might have gotten it. Thank you for your question.
Suzanne Redfearn Hello. Sorry for the very delayed reply. I just stumbled onto this page and realized readers have been asking me questions. I don't know if you are still interested in reading CHILD STAR. If you are, the name was changed. It was published under the title NO ORDINARY LIFE. It is available on Amazon. Thank you for your question. I hope you enjoy it. Best, Suzanne
Suzanne Redfearn Hello Pamela, My advice is to not try to summarize your book, but instead to write a query that makes them want to find out more. The query that got me all three of my agents described the story in a single sentence, but it was enough to make them curious. The goal is to get them to ask to see the manuscript. Keep that in mind. Good luck!
Suzanne Redfearn Hello Marissa,
Thank you for your question. I am glad you loved HUSH LITTLEB BABY and am happy to say that my second novel, CHILD STAR, just sold to my publisher. They have not announced the release date, but keep you eye out for it starting in the fall of 2015. If you friend me on Facebook: SuzanneRedfearnAuthor or log in as a guest on my website: SuzanneRedfearn.com, you will receive updates.
Suzanne Redfearn No such thing. I sit down with a notebook or at my computer and something comes out. It might not be worth keeping, but it always takes me further down the road to where I want to go.
Suzanne Redfearn I get to sit in my pajamas telling stories and call it a job.
Suzanne Redfearn Write. Write. Write. HUSH LITTLE BABY was my fifth novel. My first novel got me my agent, and my fifth one got me published. The more you have in your arsenal the more chance you have of breaking in.
Suzanne Redfearn My next novel is another story about a mother protecting her children, but the protagonist is very different and so are the circumstances. It is in the hands of my editor and my fingers are crossed that it will be out in the world soon.
Suzanne Redfearn I sit my butt down in the chair and I write...every...everyday. No excuses. I also keep notebooks everywhere, in my car, beside my bed, in the bathroom because you never know when inspiration will strike.
Suzanne Redfearn A friend of mine was going through a horrible divorce. It was a lot of he said/she said and I remember thinking how easy it is to sabotage a life, that if one spouse wanted to set up the other to get custody of the kids, they could.
