Cheryl Koevoet Ha-ha, hah! For some reason, your question makes me laugh!! :0) Maybe it's because I have held down so many different jobs during my life! And thank you for your compliment on my covers -- I have an absolutely FABULOUS cover designer (Najla Qamber) who deserves all the credit!!

I think someone "chooses" to write in the same way that another person decides to become an artist, or a painter, an actor, a comedian or a musician. There is just this inexplicable creative urge to express oneself through craftsmanship by producing something tangible and sharing it with the world.

For me personally, becoming an author gives me the opportunity to tell a meaningful story with a truthful message that makes people think. There is nothing more satisfying than to hear that someone has enjoyed reading my books. In some small way, I feel as if I have made the world a slightly better place and that is truly a rewarding feeling.

Thanks for your question!
Cheryl Koevoet I love being able to develop characters into real people that I would love to know (or hate!) In fact, at a certain point, they become a part of your life just as if they were real. One of the most rewarding things about being a writer is watching your characters strive to overcome the seemingly insurmountable challenges that are thrown their way, despite all their faults and deficiencies. You feel proud of them in the same way a parent does when he/she sees their child overcoming obstacles and you just want to cheer!
Cheryl Koevoet The main plot behind The Carnelian Legacy series is one that has been swirling in my head for more than twenty years now. I love the idea of a young woman being sucked into another dimension and discovering the love of her life there. As for the idea of the vortex -- I am from Oregon and there is a real place near Gold Hill (where the book is set) that is known for its strange phenomena.
