Sue Harrison The lives of my great great grandparents--both MDs in the late 1800s--would be a great plot. They were qualified doctors but also patent medicine producers. "Dr. Albert" (an alias) was shot when he was out making a call. He was in his horse and buggy. The horse brought him home dead.
Sue Harrison So far, no writer's block, but if I paint myself into a corner plot-wise, I let it sit a few days and do something physical to give my brain a rest and let my sub-conscious solve the problem. Physical stuff? Walk my dog, dig in my garden, go for a drive, get in the kayak, cook, clean...

Sue Harrison Read everything, especially your chosen genre, but other genres as well. If you aspire to writing novels, be sure to read enough poetry to add beautiful words to your repertoire. Then make writing a part of your daily or at least bi-weekly routine.
Sue Harrison My newest novel was just submitted last week to my publisher Open Road Integrated Media of NYC. The title is THE MIDWIFE'S TOUCH. Here's a teaser--"The Missouri Ozark Mountains, 1852: Named for a broken china plate, China Creed is raised in a poverty-stricken family torn apart by her curse. She has the ability to grant wishes."
Sue Harrison My inspiration comes from many different sources: the lives of people around me, other books-wonderful magical books, my love of nature and animals, my interests in new-to-me subjects, folk tales, mythology, and the stories told to me as a child growing up in a family of storytellers.
Sue Harrison That idea came to me from my grandfather and his parents. This book is located in southern Missouri, the Ozark Mountains and deals with the ideas and traditions of the backwoods people there. My grandpa was raised in southern Missouri and as I wrote this book, it was his voice that spoke every single word.
