For my one story that I was writing (the off-shoot), not that I would call it writer's block but, I had just finished this really dark scene and I needed to walk away to give myself some perspective. Sometimes we have to put ourselves in there and it can be terrifying.
Many of my obstacles have been mental. I've been fearful of this or that (or what have you). Finally I realized I was being ridiculous and that's when I found (many) posts about "just write" or "you should be writing" - just sit down and write - even if it's not about the current piece you are working on. My blogs have really helped me too!
Most recently, I get some caffeinated coffee or tea, turn up Pandora and just start typing away!! You should try it! I read an article where they said music is the most stimulating thing for your brain.

When I was younger I wrote more as an outlet and mainly in a poetic form. Now that I am creating an epic journey, it's an entirely different outlet. I've always loved paranormal, fantasy and science fiction because it takes some reality but, really takes you out of our realities so we can escape and experience something more.

WRITE! I've read so many articles on different aspects and perspectives about writing but, the best advice I have come across is simply - write. Don't let anything hold you back, just sit down and sketch out the basic plots, or whatever you need to in order to get it started. Also, I think a great tool for aspiring authors would be to join different writer and author groups. It is a great tool. What are you waiting for? Get to it! ;)

Currently I am working on editing my 2nd title in the Going off Dreams Series "For All in the Hope". I really want to have it published before Christmas. I also started writing one of the off-shoot story lines titled "Arduinnian: Guardians of the Forests". I also have started two other non-fiction pieces, one about my son that passed away and the other about my battle with surviving "The Flesh Eating Bacteria" and other things; those are long time coming though.

I've read in other groups how writers often do have difficulties writing. I'm lucky that I don't have any trouble writing. All I have to do is sit at my computer and I can just go. The trip wires for me are editing and the other obstacles that are involved with self-publishing (professional edits and covers, etc.)
The story I originally started writing gives me such inspiration to write. I've always been intrigued by the moon and stars, so naturally I wanted to write including those aspects as well. I love creating the epic battles, the out-of-this-world realms and unique characters. It's fun!

The first book I wrote in the series "Going off Dreams" was based off of a very vivid dream that kept occurring. I decided to start writing it out and it just steam rolled from there. The second book continues the quest into the fight between the darkness and the light. All together I want to have the four main books and then off-shoot stories about other characters. It's pretty exciting.
Mainly though, the ideas stemmed from researching different Mythologies and mixing in stories from the Bible. There were a lot of similarities and I liked meshing them. Researching names a lot of time fuels the creative fires as well. Once I got the main gist of the story, I wasn't in control anymore.
