I typically write memoir--past and present. Life is built on the experiences that we not only live through but we grow and learn from. Even though life is not always happy, we can live with joy and a positive outlook as we mature in our thinking.

My 22-year old son, desperately trying to grow up and faltering in all aspects, decided to leave home at 9:00 pm to hitchhike from Texas to California. What was then a frightening experience, turned out to be an eye-opener for him and another bit of letting go for mom.
