I have a very active imagination and am always running through various scenarios in my mind. This plot idea sprang from one of those exercises. I was actually driving cross country at the time by myself at the time, and was doing quite a bit of "what if" style thinking.

I always want to write. Sometimes I do have to overcome a bit of inertia to get myself to sit down at the keyboard. The best solution for that is to schedule the time. Once I'm sitting down the rest takes care of itself.

I'm now working on a horror novel that will be sort of like Stephen King meets Arthur C. Clarke. It's exploring some new themes, I think -- or at least themes I have not seen explored before. I'm very excited about it. Second draft is almost finished. I may spend some time seeking a traditional publisher for this one.

Write and keep on writing. Do it for the sake of the art. Worry about success later.

It allows you to express yourself creatively. If you have a drive to do that, this is the only way to cope with it. It also allows you to connect with others.

Believe it or not this has never happened. I do sometimes find myself tapped out of energy. I solve that by getting up and going and doing something else for a while. The energy comes back and usually creative ideas along with it.
