I wish I could say that it was getting rich but even making a small amount of money from writing is a great privilege and joy.
Since I write erotic fiction one of my biggest thrills is hearing from people who tell me that they get really turned on by my work. With pornographic videos and images so easily available these days it seems a little old-fashioned to get your kicks from fictional accounts of sexuality but fortunately there are still plenty of people who enjoy the opportunity to use their imagination.
Another thing I love about being a writer is the opportunity to become totally immersed in the world I'm writing about. I love doing research. Sometimes that means reading about a different time period or it may be involve actually going out and experiencing something new to find out what it really feels like.
Most satisfying of all is communicating with readers who enjoy what I do. It's always sad when I get a bad rating or review because I'm not trying to offend anybody or waste their valuable time but fortunately the majority of my feedback has been very positive and that gives me encouragement to keep going.

I have a very active "virtual" sex life online at places like "Second Life" and "A Chat" and have enjoyed encounters with men and women from all over the world. I usually never allow my real life and my fantasy life to mix but I did meet a man one day who turned my screws in a way that no other online lover had ever done. We were separated by nine hours and nine thousand miles and for a variety of reasons knew that we were never destined to be together.
That's where the advantage of being a writer came into play. I wanted to write a love letter to this man that would allow us to have the kind of romance we would never have in real life. The book is called "Borderless Desire" and is part autobiography and part erotic fiction. Some of it is also influenced by the experiences of friends of mine who have also engaged in long distance love affairs with varying degrees of success.
Real life set the stage for me and all I had to do was use my imagination to create a scenario that would be wonderful were it possible. I took my true fantasies and brought them to life in the pages of my book.

That can be hard to do at first because those influences may well be one of the main reasons you want to try writing in the first place but you've always got to strive to find your own voice.
It's been said a million times but it's often best to start out writing about something you know. It doesn't have to be a total autobiography but you'll find it easier to make the characters and plot situations more believable if you're drawing on your own experiences. Another tip is to set your story in a place you're really familiar with. It gives you the opportunity to provide a richly detailed setting for your story and the people in it.

As silly as it may sound I usually get inspired to write whenever I'm in an especially horny mood. I go through these phases where my sex drive is super-charged and aside from the obvious physical outlets I often channel some of that energy into writing, creating erotic art or composing music.
