Ginger Booth Relatives disappear from time to time. I've gone dark once or twice myself. :) I don't write mysteries, but I've certainly invented stories, one wilder than the next, to account for their whereabouts.
Ginger Booth Get some exercise, walking or dancing with MP3 player, or a good long swim. Get all the way out of the 'writing problem' and try to see a bigger picture. What is the book about? What do the characters want at this point? What's the next fun scene? See if I can get the characters to start talking or acting instead of me pushing them around.

In truth, I suffer more from life block than writer's block. When it seems like I'm personally stuck in every direction, I write to clear the logjam. So to me it makes sense that if the writing balks, I need to clear it with some living.
