(view spoiler)[I'd have to say Elyn and Thork, from Dennis L. McKiernan's book, Dragondoom. Thork was a dwarf, and Elyn a human of the Vanadurin. Their people were at war, and yet the two united against a common foe, the great dragon, Black Kalgalath. Although hatred between their two peoples ran centuries deep, the tale still ended up as powerful and unexpected love story. (hide spoiler)]

Hi, Rosie! I've already got another book in the Jidaan series planned, something set about 20 years after the events in this first trilogy. That said, I also have notes and outlines for a werewolf story, a ghost story, and a sort of faerie tale, all set in present day. There's also a witchhunter thing and a few other dusty projects in my files. I'm open to suggestions!

Often, I reach a point in my story where I just don't 'see' where to go next. When that happens, I tend to work on another section of the story, or even another story entirely. Eventually, my subconscious works out the problem and I get back where I was before.

The best thing about being a writer is that I can write anything I want. Of course, that's also the worst thing about being a writer. I'm presented with an infinite amount of choices as to plot, characters, settings, etc, and I eventually have to pick. Choices, choices.

WRITE. Just write. Write your butt off, whether you think it's good or not. Don't be afraid to just get a bunch of ink on the page, you can always edit it later. Just write, write, write, write.

I'm currently working on Gart's Road: Book 2 of the Fire of the Jidaan trilogy.

I've always written stories to amuse myself. Ages ago, I had just read two books from a very successful author and found myself highly dissatisfied. I decided that I could write better than that guy, so I sat down and got started. Now I see that I was pretty foolish at the time, but it forced me to sit down and start writing!

I actually got the idea for this story over 20 years ago and have been working on it ever since. The characters came first and then the story just kind of wrote itself after that. I'm still following the basic outline I made way back then, but very often, unforeseen events occur.
