BEWARE of Friend requests that are not so friendly

Today I checked my Goodreads friend request...
In it was my second request, with an odd profile. The first one had me thinking I was being paranoid because of what I research and write about. Sexual Slavery. The second request I received? With even MORE disturbing text? And a link, if interested?

I reported it to Goodreads.
(Keep reading if you want to know what to look for)

I beg everyone to always check who is asking to be your friend here on Goodreads.

Goodreads is excellent about responding and trying to keep us safe, so help them! Keep your eyes open! And let them know of any suspicious activity. Doing so you will have helped fellow friends and authors from receiving what I just did.

I followed the link provided (before posting this blog) to make sure I am not spreading false information. Umm, the home page was of naked woman. I searched no further. May not be an illegal site but it does not belong on Goodreads.

Please, report any friend request with links and wording such as "Sexy young girls wanting love kindness waiting for you here >>>>>>(the link).
That was the EXACT wording.

Be safe. Be aware. Help others. Create Light.

Human Trafficking

The battle of human trafficking is real.
There are those out there truly trying to save lives. Please join this fight! All you have to do is share this video and bring awareness on your social media accounts. That's all I ask! Just help spread awareness. That simple act will encourage others to join the front lines and forge forward, demanding change for victims who desperately need our help.

I also spread awareness through my stories Blue Waters, Black Waters, Red Waters and eventually through the Forever series, Serenity, Destiny

Amal Clooney

For those of you who have had the chance to read Black Waters, and have an inclination of what is coming in the Forever series Serenity, know that I am an advocate for victims—and future victims—of human trafficking/sexual slavery.

You have probably heard of this woman but now she is one I will follow closely, Amal Clooney. She is taking on Isis in a legal manner. This takes unbelievable courage! I applaud and support such bravery.

Amal is representing a woman who was sold to Isis leaders (after her family was killed) and sexually abused/assulted till she would pass out. Harsh thing to post on Goodreads or social media? Yes. But is it happening? YES! Is there anything you can do to help? YES!!!! Share this woman's work and effort. Help by bringing awareness to these crimes. If enough people support these victims and demand change, maybe more will be done to bring down organizations that violently violate human rights.

Remember, this is not just happening in ISIS organization. The percentage of abducted children/teens—here in the states and all over the world—that are sold into this trade, would haunt your worst nightmare.

They thought I was crazy...

They thought I was crazy... Maybe they are right.
As of yesterday, I officially released six books in 6 months!

Two novellas:
Blue Waters (Tainted Waters #1) by India R. Adams Black Waters (Tainted Water, #2) by India R. Adams

A YA standalone: My Wolf and Me by India R. Adams

The first in a NA series:
Steal Me (Haunted Roads #1) by India R. Adams

The first in my fantasy NA series: Rain (A Stranger in the Woods, #1) by India R. Adams

And, the novel that started this all: Serenity (Forever, #1) by India R. Adams

Grant it, it took 8 years to write all these but now there's no looking back—except to peak over my shoulder and smile to those who, well, thought I was crazy! They will smile back with a thumbs up because without them, I never could have pulled off this challenge through all the professional editing and formatting... and LEARNING!

Next year I will release sequels, a third installment, and a new book titled Girls are Beautiful, taking my time... but boy will I have a smile on my face knowing, I DID IT! Here's to being nuts! I love it! Hahahaha...

If you have a little crazy in you too, tell me about it or like this post so we can unite!

Your author and friend,
India

GRIEVING AND HEALING

I’ve been preparing myself for some very emotional blogs where I’m going to share some of my past through my own voice, not just through my character’s inner thoughts.
Scary? Yes.
Not sure if I want to do this?
Correct, but someone reading my latest novel, STEAL ME, made a remarkable statement (well, first she yelled at me for a certain “part” in Steal me. Some of you are now laughing, knowing what part she’s talking about—the one before Tucker’s POV?). Either way, what she had to say next let me know that it’s time to take my bravery to another level. She told me that this book was affecting her in a way that was unexpected…

A family member, of this reader I am speaking of, lost someone close to them. Months later, with her family member still grieving, she was surprised with how long the mourning process could take. Never experiencing such loss herself, she was uncertain of the unrelenting, painful emotions she was witnessing. But claims, with reading Steal Me—personal thoughts of my character’s grieving process—she says she now understands. She says her empathy for her loved one has now doubled and her patience is even more easily found.

I loved her honesty and growth. I told her that, for me, loosing someone I’ve had in my life for many years, makes it hard to breathe while trying to accept the energy space that used to be filled by a soul. That soul had to move on, leaving me missing the warmth it once brought me. Hence, Steal Me. Steal me from the pain...

Steal Me (Haunted Roads, #1) by India R. Adams

Deep inhale…

This is probably true for every author but there is a piece of me in every book of mine. I write from traumatic events in my life and many heartbreaks. That’s actually how writing began for me—giving me an outlet for my sorrow… And to know that my devastating pain, expressed through my characters, is helping others, is so humbling I’m deeply moved.

My tragedies—the times in my life I never thought I would recover from—now have even more purpose than just my own lessons of life. All my doubts and questions, that sometimes occurred after burying a loved one, can now help spread understanding for those trying to support their own family and friends through a similar loss.

Another deep inhale…

Compassion. What a beautiful life.

To fellow authors, I applaud you

Over eight years ago, I started an unexpected journey and write a book. That book lead me into another book... and the next thing I knew I had a 4 book series.

My husband and I struggled with my new passion but found a way to fit it into our relationship.

My kids had to cook a few dinners by themselves...

My life changed... and it was hard...

Next thing I knew, I was done with another book, starting another series...

In between, we relocated from Austin to Murphy, NC. It was winter. I froze. Yet, I wrote...

20 books later, I finally found the courage to start releasing my stories—this February—to the world. The responses have made this "challenging" adventure so worth it.

Now, with 3 books released, and 3 more being released in this month and the next two, I've never been busier!

Answering emails, talking with wonderful fans, reviewers, and awesome bloggers has taken up all my time, and... I miss writing.

I'm humbled and grateful for every kind word shared with me but I can't help but think of all the authors who didn't have the opportunity to have many books lined up before starting this unknown of exposing your work.

So, for those authors out there trying to hold a full time job (or part-time) or being a mother or father, a husband or wife, a friend, a girlfriend or boyfriend, basically all authors trying to have a life, find time to write AND push their book sales forward, I applaud you. I applaud each and EVERY one of you! If I didn't have books already written... I don't know how I would accomplish adding to my library. You guys rock and I hope you all find the courage to continue this life choice that is SO MUCH harder than people may ever realize.

You have my full support and well deserved respect.
Your fellow author,
India

First character pics!

I've read so many post from authors as they enjoy the excitement exuding from their readers. And I have teared up on numerous occasions when receiving such kind and gracious reviews but, last night, I got a first.

A blogger posted pictures of what she imagines my characters in the Tainted Water series to look like.

I've always wondered what that would feel like—witnessing other authors experience it—and now I know.

It's GREAT!!!! I screamed, I stomped my happy feet, I stared at my computer screen, wiped some stuff leaking from my eyes... and thought to myself, "Life is good."

Drum roll please! Here are the first glimpses of Miss Whitney, Link and Crash.

Thank you to Ashley and to all who have been so supportive and taken the time to share some love.

I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!!
