2017 Approacheth..

It's taken me a few years to settle into writing where I am comfortable and I feel as if I am utilising my talents to the best of my ability, so 2017 looks like being a red-letter year for me.
I'll be concentrating on Historical Fiction and also Time Travel if I get... the time!! (See what I did there?)
2 mostly completed novels and one well-in-the-works novellas will be launched this year, along with 4 shorts and whatever other little pieces of scribbles I spit out in between.
I'm looking forward to getting to know the historical fiction audience a whole lot better - from those who like their Regency very formulated and proper, through to those who like their Yorkists and Tudors all lined up neatly, to those who love a wild Scot or an Irishman up on a crag.
It's going to be a year of many holidays in my mind. And, if I can swing it, many holidays in my body as well!
Feel free to drop me a word if you're around - a review is always nice, but a question or a comment makes me feel just as loved.
So best of 2017 to you all and I hope to be chatting to you soon.
Bree

A Sweet Ending to 2016

With all the noise and bickering of 2016, and most of it played out on social media, it was gorgeous to hear from one of my fellow Romance Writers of Australia, Lesley Ann Acton, asking if she could promote everyone on her Facebook page, as a positive gesture to finish up the year. Loads of […]

Christmas 2016

Many of my friends are thinking twice about really celebrating Christmas this year. They have experienced a year of heart-wrenching loss, of grinding despair and of confusion with the world we are living in. They are choosing to let Christmas 2016 pass them by quietly, without fanfare and without celebration, hoping that 2017 fares better for […]

Flash Fiction 11 November 2016

The flashbulbs hurt her eyes, and the sun pricked skin that until very lately had known only cold. She tried to speak, but the words were stuck in her frozen throat. A bank of unforgiving microphones waited in front of her mouth, yet she couldn’t say the words. These clothes were not her clothes, these […]

Review of A Step in Time by Kerry Barrett

Sometimes, you just want to read a nice, sweet, romantic love story, and when I read A Step In Time, that was exactly what I was in the mood for. Set in London, it follows two storylines, that of Amy Lavendar, a former soap star who lost her job when she broke the nose of […]

Should you Journal?

I’ve been an on-and-off journaler for many years. Sometimes, just a quick jot of my thoughts and feelings is enough to get it all out of me so I can settle. The last couple of days, I’ve got back into writing, just a bit, before I go to sleep. I don’t know if it actually […]

Indie Author Day – Free Books!

The 8th of October is Indie Author Day!! Time for us all to celebrate all things indie. And for indie authors to show just how freakin’ awesome they all are. Even crazy romance writers. What is an indie author? Well, we are those who have decided to take the path of publishing our own books. […]

Flash Fiction 6 October 2016

Ephemyia sailed around the room, her white gauzy gown floating behind her in a sea of ripples. Everything was going to plan. Graden was deep in her clutches, little did he know his soul was slowly being devoured by her every time he locked his green gaze on her unusual lavender eyes. She had won him […]

Pen vs Keyboard – Brain Wars (or what happens in your brain when you write by hand)

What differences does it make in your brain if you write with a pen or type on a keyboard? Lots of writers believe that their creative juices flow more freely when they take to handwriting. I happen to be one of them. But is there any evidence that this is so? I wanted to know, […]

Boofie has a Bath; or why we Should be More like Dogs

Poor old Boof. He had to suffer the indignity of being clipped, bathed and blow dried yesterday. He’s a rescue dog, and ever since we’ve had him, he’s been terrified of bathing. To get it done, you have to use all your muscles to hold him under the water while he struggles and strains to […]
