Neal Shusterman Reviews Gary Paulsen’s Final Novel
“He will soon understand that having a direction is far more important than having a destination when one’s journey is into the unknown.”
—
This is a review I did of Gary Paulsen’s last book. It was an honor to get the chance to review his final book for the New York Times.
📚 BOOK OF THE WEEK: BRUISER 📚
Bruiser has entire sections in verse, when told from the point of view of the character “Brewster,” the one with the power to heal physical and emotional wounds. I was worried about pushing my own boundaries to try free verse – so I sent all the verse to my friend, author Ellen Hopkins, who is a master of verse novels – and she loved it enough to give me a blurb for the book.

How are you starting your week?
With a good cup of coffee? A good book? Writing on a journal?
What is your Monday habit?
I’m curious for inspiration!

🎬 Film/TV Update 🎬
I had an “Ask Me Anything” over at Reddit last November and was asked about updates on possible TV and film adaptations of my books.
These are my answers from questions about Scythe, Unwind, and Dry.
Do you know anyone who has been waiting so long for any of these to be on screen?
Tag them in this post to make sure they see this update!
