Lori Brand is a lifting enthusiast, group fitness instructor, yoga teacher, and software quality engineer. In past lives, she’s been a gymnast, dancer, Playboy model, and bodybuilder. Her time in the body wars trenches led to her realization that getting strong, rather than shrinking, is the way out. In an effort to spread the word, she’s had articles published in STRONG Fitness Magazine, T-Nation, Inside Fitness Magazine, D’FYNE Fitness Magazine, and more. Bodies to Die For is her first novel.

"This was listed as a "psychological thriller", but I'd put it more in the "murder mystery" class. This was an entertaining read with great messaging about diet culture. HUGE trigger warnings around Hedge Fund Guy's chapters, especially his first chap" Read more of this review »

“They are able to endure hours of training when they are exhausted. Forgo eating when they are famished. Get back up on the stage after humiliating losses. Frankly, they are insane. Most people aren’t. That’s why most people don’t win.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“I don’t want to chase elusive beauty standards. I want to chase strength. There’s nothing arbitrary about running a mile, doing a pull-up, or snatching one hundred pounds. You either hit it or you don’t.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“Do you think I’m fat?” the blond asks her fat friend.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“I don't want to go to heaven. None of my friends are there.”
Oscar Wilde

“The other two panelists are self-made millionaires, but they’re single and a little flabby. I lost a bunch of weight, look great, and married a hot guy. So, I win.
I’m not sure how I feel about that.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“I’ve spent thousands of dollars and have nothing to show for it other than a damaged self-esteem.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“The annoyance I originally felt starts to condense down into a tight kernel of hate deep inside me. Years of self-loathing and tears have made for fertile soil. She’s one more person telling me that I’m not okay the way I am. That I need to shrink.”
Lori Brand, Bodies to Die For

“Why would she let herself get so fat? Doesn’t she realize how unattractive she is?
Andrew doesn’t consider that she doesn’t give a shit if he finds her attractive.”
