Celebrating my 10th published book!

This month marks the publication of my tenth book. It's called Finding Elliot, and will be available with Total-E-Bound on November 22. I'm quite excited since it's also the start of a new series, called Men of Riverside.
The series explores the lives of fourteen men who all share a high school in the fictional town of Riverside, Texas. Not all of them know they are destined to be couples. Some of them believe they are only... friends. Circumstances and life separate them, sometimes for several years. But luck, determination and love will help them get the reunions they deserve.
In celebration of this anniversary, I'm giving away an e-copy of Finding Elliot, the first volume of the series. To participate, please leave a comment here, on my website (www.serenayates.com), or on my facebook post (http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?i...). All entries made before November 30, 2010 will participate in the draw.
If you don't want to wait until November 30 to find out if you won, and have already bought Finding Elliot by then, I will send the winner a copy of one of my other e-books, winner's choice.
Good luck!

New book released today

Out today from Total-E-Bound, this is the second book in the contemporary New Horizons series. This sequel to Rescuing the Librarian is set entirely in Scotland. All four "New Horizon" stories focus on men who make substantial changes in their current lives.
Blurb
Can a former gay pornstar fight prejudice and blackmail to become the theatre actor he wants to be?
Scott Black is a former gay pornstar who has recently moved back to Scotland so that his boyfriend Anton Collins can use the Black family’s old manuscripts for his research. Hoping to leave his movie career in the past, Scott dreams of performing on stage, and in a lucky break lands a role at the Princes Theatre in Edinburgh. But not everyone is happy with his new job.
When a disgruntled actor threatens to make Scott’s past public knowledge, he’s faced with the prospect of quitting the best opportunity of his life, until Anton opens his eyes to the real issue–learning to live with his choices while reaching for new horizons.
Will Scott allow his past to rule his future, or will he stand behind his decisions so everyone can discover what an excellent actor he is?

Can't believe it's October already!

Where has the time gone? I bet I'm not the only one asking that question, and this is not the first time I've wondered.
This year, my answer is very different from previous years. 2010 has been the first calender year of full time writing for me. I sat down in January and decided I was going to make every day count, to work at my new craft, and to enjoy doing it.
So far, it's been the best year of my life. Not only have I had tremendous fun experimenting with different subgenres of m/m (I've added sci-fi and fantasy to my already "established" contemporary exploits), but I've also successfully published different story lengths. Everything from a long short story (Lust Bites at TEB) to shorter and longer novellas, and even some novels.
Even better than that, I've met fellow authors, lots of new friends, and above all, some of my readers. Online so far, but you never know when a visit here or there might make it possible to meet them in reality. All of you have enriched my life tremendously, and I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, thoughts and comments.
My two publications in October (The Elevator Mechanic and Discovering the Actor) bring the tally of published books and stories up to nine. Four are already available in print and I'm working on getting more of them out there into the bookstores.
What's left for the rest of the year? The "resizing" project (otherwise known as my diet) will take time and energy. There will be more writing, of course (nine more books if all goes well), Halloween, a visit from another one of my nieces in November, my birthday and a trip to see my brother and his family in Germany for Christmas and the New Year.
I'm looking forward to it and hope that you can say the same!

I've been interviewed by Queer Magazine Online. There are quite a few questions about my background, why I write, my books published so far, and upcoming projects. They were fun to answer and I hope you'll check them out at http://bit.ly/9mfYdw.

My first paranormal/sci-fi novel, Eye of Scota: Cinaed has been published with Dreamspinner Press.
I did a Meet the Author event on the Dreamspinner facebook fanpage (http://bit.ly/ceKtcL) on Saturday from 3-7pm Eastern. There were be excerpts, a contest and an opportunity to ask me questions. Congratulations to Adana O'Hare, the winner of a free e-copy of Eye of Scota: Cináed!

Christmas in July
Do you know the origins of this event? Is it because some people just like Christmas so much they can’t wait a full twelve months to be Christmas-y again?
However it started, E.M. Lynley is having a little Christmas-in-July event on her blog between July 21st and 31st this year. There will be guest blogs around Christmas- (or Hanukkah-) themed stories from various authors. The focus is GLBT stories, but there might be others.
Mine will be on Thursday, July 22nd, talking abut the appeal of different Christmas traditions across the world. Be sure to check back daily so you don't miss any of the other posts.

The Solstice Mistletoe Effect published today!
I'm very happy that this sequel to The Mistletoe Phenomenon is finally seeing the light of day. It's always hard for me, like for most authors, to make it through that final week or so before the book is actually available for readers. But I got there!
This time, I ran a giveaway for a free e-copy as well and have just sent messages to the three lucky winners. The amount of interest that contest generated was amazing, and I want to thank everyone who had a look and registered. I think I will repeat this in the near future, so watch this spot.
If you want to have a closer look, go to http://bit.ly/dxAImQ for more information, an excerpt, and, if you like what you see, the buy link.
