Yeah, I wrote a vampire story…I'd be embarrassed if it wasn't so good.

Disclaimer: I've never read/seen any part of the Twilight franchise. The last vampire movie I saw was The Lost Boys. I'm not a fan of the vampire genre and probably never will be. So, why the hell did I write a vampire story for the new Eternal Night: a Vampire Anthology? Two reasons: 1) the concept of the anthology is to combat traditional vampire cliches, and 2) I was asked to by a friend to contribute, and it seemed like a fun challenge. To my surprise, my story "Born Again Michael," is...

Add my book at GoodReads, and get it for $5

Simple. Just add my book, Charactered Pieces, to your "to read" list over at GoodReads.com and I'll send you a super secret crazy spy-esque link to get a signed copy straight from me for only $5 (unsigned, ego-free copies available, too; just tell me which you want). The regular price of this collection is $7. That's a…don't tell me…$2 savings. The link will come via a Friend Request. You don't even have to accept the request. How's that for noncommittal?

$5 for a damn good collection of...

Five questions for Black Coffee Press, Scott C. Rogers

Today, as one of the final stops on my Blog Orgy Tour, my 3AM Magazine Buzzwords blog takeover continues, this time with a short, five question series for Black Coffee Press founder, Scott C. Rogers.

I ask him, among other things, why he started this press and why people should care. This is hard-hitting journalism.

3AM Magazine is my bitch (I love you, 3AM).

For this entire week, the crazies over at 3AM's Buzzwords blog have given me carte blanche reign of the page, where I have promised not to make a fool of myself or 3AM. But I've been drinking. Things could get sexy.

This extended stay caps my lengthy and beautiful Blog Orgy Tour in support of my fiction collection, Charactered Pieces. I'm sure many of you have grown tired of seeing so many posts about this damn tour, and for that intrusion, I apologize. But I assure you, the content of each...

Caleb's SNIPPETS OF TOMORROW (01/10/10)

@ Goodreads.com, Ben Tanzer, author of Most Likely You'll Go Your Way and I'll Go Mine (Orange Alert Press) said this amazing bit about Charactered Pieces:

While there is weirdness in these stories, not to mention biblical allegories and tales of suicide and the holocaust, what lingers is an underlying thread about the impact parents, fathers in particular, have on our lives whether through their presence or more often their absence. Ultimately, the stories are like a collective punch to the...

Tim Hall's One Damn Thing After Another, preorder open

I've been a fan of Tim Hall's since first coming on board with Outsider Writer's Collective over a year ago. His articles were always great (his Open Letter to Oprah Winfrey as part of his Naked Opinion column is especially good), the email and forum exchanges I had with him consistently proved his dedication to both his writing and the writing community at large. His four books, published through his own Undie Press label, are all quite good. So, of course I'm damn happy that his newest...

Blog Orgy Tour stop #20: Friday Five The 5 Best Things Caleb J Ross Has Read Recently

I learned about Deckfight when Josh, the guru over there, approached me about doing one of their "5 Best Things" segments. I'm ashamed that I didn't know of the site before this. I've since perused their archives, and I can honestly say, they do some great things over there. So, after you pretend to care what I think by reading my "5 Best Things" post, be sure to scour the rest of the site.

And don't forget, A FULL WEEK AT THE 3AM BUZZWORDS BLOG all next week. I peed myself just now.

Blog Orgy Tour stop #19: Used Books, the Origin of the Book Networking Circle

Today, as part of my Blog Orgy Tour in support of my fiction chapbook, Charactered Pieces (OW Press) I head over to Lit Drift to offer a few words on what I think could be the origin of the book networking circle that we know today.

See the rest of my stops, both past and future, here.
