Ten reasons why gay marriage should be illegal…
posted on the Facebook page Wipeout Homophobia. This is hilarious… and sad.
Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage...June 22, 2010
Amor vincit insomnia…
…or something like that. I wish. One of my rare bad nights, so now I've got a headache and about 1 this afternoon I will hit a wall and become a zombie, which does not bode well for my lunch hour o' writing. And I spilled coffee on my (very) white shirt and Oxy-Clean only partially took it out, so I look like a slob on top of it. Good thing my office is in the back of the library where few people dare to tread; I may end up staying in here until 5 pm.
On the other hand, I did do some...

Happy Bloomsday from Tim
In honor of this day there will be no punctuation in this or any electronic correspondence I have today oh heck why should I use punctuation ever again it's a message driven world and I could very easily make it to my grave without using punctuation without serious repercussion perhaps I have suffered a concussion and am now commatose and in need of a semi-colonoscopy

Men behaving badly
The boys are givin' me fits. I swear…
I'm having a really hard time focusing on Tristan's character. He's a slippery one: arrogant but not unkind, macho but vulnerable, physical and emotional. And really, really repressed. I'm trying to "show, not tell" but he's very, very good at hiding. And I'm afraid that when I show what he's thinking he comes off as too whiny. AND his relationship with Charles makes him seem entirely too "girly," which he definitely isn't.
Charles, on the other...

What I'm reading…
If you know me, you know I don't read. I INHALE.
I don't have a TBR (To Be Read) pile like most people. I sometimes have a SBR (Should Be Read) pile of stuff I should read because it's been recommended, it's a classic, or someone gave it to me and I really ought to read it and decide if it's worth keeping. But my TBR piles are usually very short lived.
And of course, usually it's not a matter of "what I'm reading" so much as it is "what I've just finished." (sigh—books are an expensive...

Smart Pop: Science Fiction after Star Wars, and what about M/M?
Another long post. Sorry. Feeling philosophical.
Today's free essay on Smart Pop Books is by the fantasy and science fiction author Tanya Huff, and deals with the effect of Star Wars on science fiction publishing. It's an interesting take, pointing out that the success of those movies had a significant impact not only on the popularity of science fiction in general, but on the stylistic elements of the genre and, more to my point here, the publishers themselves. Basically it boils down to ...

Destiny rides again
From Friday's The Onion:
Libra Well, the stars tried, but somehow, you've been left more or less in control of your own destiny this week.
Oh, boy, am I in trouble.
Seriously, I've always felt that I'm pretty much responsible for my own destiny. I know I'm responsible for my own feelings. I don't "get" people who want to blame everything on external factors. I mean, it's true: Life isn't fair, you (usually) don't get second chances, and when you least expect it, you're going to get a big...
