When the Body Says No
Weekend workshop at Kripalu Centre.
Mind and body form a non-dual unity. Science has now demonstrated that our emotional life is inextricably connected with our physiology. Emotional stresses play a major role in the onset of illness, most particularly the stress caused by the suppression of so-called negative emotions such as sadness or anger. Healthy emotional self-expression is a key factor in regaining or maintaining physical health.
By combining lectures, gentle guided self-exploration, techniques to connect with the body, and mindful-awareness practice, this workshop enhances compassionate self-understanding. This program includes:
Identifying how we unwittingly generate stress based on early childhood programming
Ways to recognize and drop hidden beliefs that drive us to stress ourselves
Exploring how and why people suppress emotion and find it impossible to say no to internal or external demands.
Based on Gabor Maté’s internationally published book When The Body Says No, this program is useful to all health-care providers-nurses, physiotherapists, physicians, nurses, massage therapists—and to everyone interested in the mind-body connection.
