Alexander B. Potter is a speculative fiction short story and novella writer.

Born and raised in Vermont, Alex continues to live and work among the maple trees of the green mountain state. He writes and edits a variety of fiction and nonfiction, including grants, which sometimes fit in both categories. His publishing history is largely in fantasy and science fiction.

In addition to writing, Alex also paints and crafts. He works in oils, in a style of painting based on the Sequencing method pioneered by artist Ric Campman.

Alex graduated from Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT, in the spring of 1992, with a major in American Studies and a minor in Women's Studies. Alex graduated from Marlboro College in Marlboro, VT, in the spring of 1992, with a major in American Studies and a minor in Women's Studies. His course of study primarily focused on the history of sexuality, and his thesis was in Prostitution in the United States, 1870 – 1920: Media Images versus Realities. Already in the throes of a media obsession that would only worsen with age, Alex managed to work popular culture and watching movies into his college course load. Had he been five years younger, he would have undoubtedly done his college thesis on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Along with his self-employment, Alex currently works as an HIV Prevention Specialist for the Men’s Program of the AIDS Project of Southern Vermont. Prior to that he was the Director of the local Big Brothers Big Sisters organization, and a Big Brother. He would like to encourage anyone visiting this website to consider becoming a mentor to a child near you.

The youngest of seven children, Alex has already collected eleven nieces and nephews, and is now working on the great-nieces and nephews. These kids (many of whom are adults now, but they'll always be his kids) find their way into stories whether they like it or not.

In 2007, Alex married Debbie Dunn, and stole her away from Arkansas to his sugary state in the north. Daily life has never been so good.
