the latest
Waiting for You will be released in less than two months. May 14 is almost here! Sort of. Time always drags when I'm really looking forward to something. But it's complicated because time seems to be zooming by at an alarming rate these days. Weeks fly by before I even realize where they went. Is it possible for time to move both slowly and quickly?
One of the contests I'll be having to win a free copy involves floor displays, which will mostly be found in Barnes & Noble stores nationwide.

mars in neptune is like mercury
Due to overwhelming excitement from, like, the world, I'm finally watching Veronica Mars. I'm almost done with season one and am disturbed that there are only two more seasons left. Can I just say wow? It's so freaking good. I'm not into Veronica's ex, the one who's supposed to be the hottie. I'm liking this Logan boy instead:

I loved the scene where they got caught making out on the couch! Where has Jason Dohring been all my life? He's my type of nerd chic. Not that I'm adding him to my h

demetri martin = funny
Demetri Martin has been my absolute fave comedian for years. He does a form of cerebral comedy, with diagrams and word manipulation and graphs. He even plays instruments, which just makes everything funnier. I like when he dings these strange bells on the floor. At first, he had a smaller group of loyal followers, wondering why the whole world didn't know who he was. But we were confident that he would be huge one day. Sure enough, Demetri was on the cover of New York magazine a few weeks

warm
As you probably had where you are, we had a really warm weekend here in New York. It was almost 70 degrees on Saturday afternoon, so I was ready to celebrate. You didn't need a coat! Or a hat! Or two scarves! We walked to the river and visited my peaceful space. It's a Zen garden which is, in warmer months, all secluded by various types of tall grasses and flowers. I love being in the middle of the busy city one second, then all immersed in this mellow environment the next.

looks
Here in New York, David Levithan organizes a Teen Author Reading Night. About once a month, a few authors read from their first or latest books. At last month's event, I was totally blown away by Looks. Madeleine George has written such an impressive debut novel that I had to share it with you.

radio
It's amazing how you can know a person for a long time and have a zillion conversations and then one day, bam! You totally discover something new you've both had in common this whole time. We were at dinner and SP was like, "Remember those aliens on Sesame Street that were like-" Well, you really have to see the imitation to get it. And I was all, "Shup up! I love those guys!"
Yes. My favorite old-school Sesame Street creatures have to be these yip yip aliens. But I forget their real names

twitterific
I'm Twittering. My user name is susanecolasanti.
Of course, my Luddite tendencies prevent me from firing up a new online habit without working out some conflict. I didn't get Twitter at first. But now it's won me over.
Top Five Reasons Why I Entered the Twittersphere
1. Facebook status updates are only visible to Facebook friends, while everyone can see Twitter.
2. The 140 character limit challenges writers to be profound in a limited capacity. (Fun fact: I nailed the 140 characters on my fir

house of penguin, another day
Oh, did you think the Waiting for You release date was May 28? Psych! It will now be released on May 14, 2009! That means even less waiting for me. I'm so excited to see three of my books on the shelves. It also means moving up all the cool marketing stuff that Penguin has planned for the book release, so you should be hearing about fun things soon.
Speaking of my awesome publishing house, I spent some time at the House of Penguin yesterday. I met with my new publicist, Samantha, who is ver

boys & girls
I was answering some interview questions recently about Waiting for You and wanted to share my response to this one:
In When Harry Met Sally, the big question is whether men and women can really be friends with each other. This is also addressed in Waiting for You. What do you think - can boys and girls be friends? Why or why not?
It all depends on whether the girl and boy are attracted to each other. If there’s attraction on both sides, they will always want the friendship to be more than it
