Looking UP!
One of my goals this year is to look UP more, so I don’t miss out on beautiful sunsets like this one.

Thanks For The Interview, Heather Gudenkauf!
Thanks for the interview, Heather Gudenkauf!
Heather: Thank you, Cathy Lamb, for taking the time to answer these 12 bookish questions about reading and writing for us.
What’s your favorite book from childhood?
Cathy: The Narnia series. I swear those books opened up my imagination. I’m a daydreamer – and those books are perfect for kids who like to daydream. I desperately wanted to go to Narnia and was quite disappointed we did not have a wardrobe in my childhood home to transport me there.
Heather: Favorite beverage/snack while you read or write?
Cathy: For nutritional purposes ONLY I enjoy decaf mochas, chocolate chip cookies, and See’s chocolates. If I’m being really wild and crazy I’ll eat movie theatre butter popcorn. There. Now you know my secrets.
Heather: What book would you like to be a character in?
Cathy: Can I be Stephanie Plum in the Janet Evanovich series? I want to, uh, “meet” Ranger and Morelli.

Thanks to Southern Lady Magazine!
Thanks to Southern Lady Magazine for featuring “The Man She Married” as a book of the month!
There are a few recipes here you all might like, my playlist when I was writing the book, tips for book clubs, and an essay about how my mother used to keep our black and white TV in the closet.
She was an English teacher and believed that kids should be outside playing or reading books. I tend to agree!
Such A Pretty Face is on sale for 99 cents!
Huh. Well, I don’t think I’ve never had a book sell this cheap.
Such A Pretty Face is on sale, on kindle, for 99 cents.
Here’s a little excerpt from Stevie Barrett who has lost 170 pounds.
I am going to plant a garden this summer.
With the exception of two pink cherry trees, one white cherry tree, and one pink tulip tree, all huge, I have a barren, dry backyard and I’m tired of looking at it. I almost see it as a metaphor for my whole life, and I think if I can fix this, I can fix my life. Simplistic, silly, I know, but I can’t get past it.
So I’m going to garden even if my hands shake as if there are live circuits inside of them and a floppy yellow hat dances ominously through my mind.
I’m going to build upraised beds, a whole bunch of them, and fill them with tomatoes, squash, zucchini, radishes, lettuce, carrots, peas, and beans. But not corn.
I’m not emotionally able to do corn yet – too many memories – but I am going to plant marigolds around the borders, pink and purple petunias, rose bushes and clematis and grapevines.
I’m going to stick two small crosses at the back fence, but not for who you think. I’m going to build a grape arbor with a deck beneath it, and then I’m going to add a table so I can paint there, as I used to, before my memories took that away.
I’m also going to build three trellises for climbing roses over a rock pathway, one arch for me, Grandma, and Grandpa, which will lead to another garden, with cracked china plates in a mosaic pattern in the middle of a concrete circle, for Sunshine.
This may sound way too ambitious.
It is. But I see this as my last chance to get control of my mind before it blows.
I can wield any type of saw out there, and I have to do this, even if it takes me years. That I can even think in terms of a future is a miracle.
Why?
Because two and a half years ago, when I was thirty two years old, I had a heart attack.
I used to be the size of a small, depressed cow.
The heart attack led to my stomach strangling operation, and I lost 170 pounds. Now I am less than half myself, in more ways than one.
My name is Stevie Barrett.
This is a story of why I was the way I was and how I am now me.
I am going to plant a garden.

My New Book – All About Evie
Yay!
I received the cover of my new book All About Evie, out October 29th.
A little hint about the plot: Evie Lindsay took a DNA test with her sister to find out more about their ancestors. That’s when everything fell apart.
One more little hint? Do you believe in premonitions?

99 Cents For A Story About An Unconventional Wedding Dress Designer
Yes, that’s all Beach Season costs for a short and sweet amount of time. I wrote a story in it titled, “June’s Lace.” I LOVED writing it.
Here’s the first chapter, through the eyes of June, a wedding dress designer in the middle of a divorce who has escaped to the Oregon beach to design her wild, unconventional bridal dresses.
Ten Things I’m Worried About:
Too many wedding dresses
Not enough wedding dresses
Grayson
Going broke
Losing my home
Never finding an unbroken, black butterfly shell
The upcoming interview with the fashion writer.
Not having peppermint sticks in my life
Turning back into the person I used to be
Always being worried.
