On The Road With Abby and Jack
As I was finishing up Book Three last month, writing about the Puget Sound, I decided that it was time to take a little vacation. I still had quite a lot of work ahead of me, so as the days and hours went by the idea became an obsession. I wasn't sure where to go, but I knew it was time to take a little break from the computer and get out of town for a week or so.
And then it came to me. Why not go up north like all the characters did in Book Three? I've always liked it up in the Puget Sound area and used to go up there quite a lot. And even though it's a little chilly this time of year, I realized that it was the perfect place for a little vacation.
So last week, we made our way up to Seattle and then on to Orcas Island (about 113 miles from the city).
Up above is the Space Needle, as Abby might have seen it from the backseat of Jack's truck. And down below, fresh ingredients from Seattle's Public Market, probably a place where Simon would like to go every day....
I thought that I may have seen that small, expensive island on the ride over to Orcas Island, but I'm not sure. There were some large beautiful houses on the islands we passed and possibly a "guest" house as well.
Abby would have been pretty happy to have found this, even though it was closed for the season...
A pizza that Simon would have been proud of served up at Roses in Eastsound on the island....
Back to the mainland.....
And then back to Bend!
Hope you're all having a fabulous weekend~

Book Three Coming Soon!

44 Book Three will be released on Valentine's Day, just a few short weeks away. I already have the champagne cooling in the refrigerator :) and can't wait to release the bubbles along with the book.A HUGE thank you to all my readers – I'm so appreciative that you've taken time to immerse yourselves in the world of Abby and Company. I love writing the 44 series and will keep doing so beyond Book Three. These characters have become so real to me lately that when I'm out doing errands around town, I'm sure I'll bump into Abby at Riverbend Park practicing her dribbling or Kate drinking a cappuccino at Thump Coffee. It's been an amazing experience on my end, and I want to thank you for coming along for the ride. On a completely random note, late at night, after a long day of writing, I like to watch the Dead Files with Amy Allen. I know it's a little goofy, but I think it's super fun watching Amy walk through haunted houses and contact ghosts and spirits. I'm hoping the show returns for another season.Well, back to work on this mild, beautiful Sunday in Bend. I have plans for an ice-free walk later today, which is quite an amazing thing in late January around these parts.Happy Sunday, Jools

GIve Me What I Want And I'll Go Away...

The snow started yesterday, so in celebration last night we dusted off Stephen King's "Storm of the Century" and watched an hour or so. It's a fun movie (a mini-series from 1999) and we have a tradition of watching it during big storms. It's four hours long, so it'll take a few nights to finish up.
My orange cat's real name is Andre Linoge (his nickname is Buddy), named after the stranger who shows up on the island just as the storm hits and says over and over and over again, "Give me what I want and I'll go away."
If you haven't seen the movie, I highly recommend it, especially this week.
Hope you all are having a great day!

This and That....

Just a quick post to say hi to everybody. I'm knee deep, maybe even higher, in Book Three right now and most of my writing is going into that. I know some writer/bloggers out there are pretty amazing at keeping up with both their novels and blogs at the same time, but alas, not me :)
Thank you to all those who have written....both on this blog and in emails...it means SO much and I absolutely love getting your mail!
The picture above is what I plan to be doing once Book Three is out in February....can't wait to get up to the mountains and play in the snow!
Well, okay, gotta get back to work over here, although first some more coffee.
Happy January!

Wow!!!
Thank you all so much for making the 44 series such a huge hit these past few weeks! It's been quite the thrill having people read about Abby and Kate and the Mortimer Brothers and Bend~ Since Thanksgiving almost 100,000 people have downloaded the free Book 1 and Book 2 is selling really well.
Also, thanks to all those who have left reviews on Amazon, Good Reads, and BN and those who have written to me. It means a lot :)
Book 2 is now available on Apple and it's also in paperback.
Anyway, not too much to report in the way of Bend news, although I did attend the Christmas Parade and have been taking a lot of night walks this past week to check out local Christmas light decorations. It's crazy how mild it's been here, although as I write this on Sunday afternoon, it feels like snow is in the air.
I did get a a chance to go on a little hike up along the Deschutes River earlier in the week. It was a beautiful, mild morning, with deep blue skies and no ice on the trail. We walked up to Lava Island Falls Take Out, the spot where summer rafting companies pull off the river. It's also a central scene in 44 Book 2.
I'm putting the final touches on a play list for the series that I will post soon. One of the songs is Mazzy Star's "Into Dust"...I especially love listening to this while reading Chapter 35 in Book 1.
Thanks again everybody! Hope you all are having a great Sunday and are getting ready for the end of the year celebrations.
