A Perspective on the Homoerotic Interpretation of Comic Book Characters

callmekitto:

"OH MAN that would be so hot, they should totally hook up, haha."

"Ugh, stupid fangirls ruining the integrity of our characters. They are SO NOT GAY. Can't two dudes be FRIENDS anymore?"

Teeny-tiny Savant and Creote!

It's a teeny-tiny kind of day. :3

That is adorable.

I wish I could do a little Savant and Creote mini- or something.

THE POWER WITHIN

Thanks partially to readers on twitter, Facebook and Tumblr, this anti-bullying comic, with contributions by me, Carla Speed McNeil, Greg Rucka and others, raised more than the amount needed during it's Kickstarter pledge drive.

This means a bigger print run, with more issues being given away to the places where it can do the most good.

Excellentness!

Tomorrow, Fanaticon In Asheville, NC

I hope people show up for this event and come say hello!

It's a very lgbtq-friendly event, sounds like a ton of fun. I will be on a panel with Prism creator Zan Christianson at 11:00 on Gender, sexuality and race in comics, and a Q&A panel at 2:00, followed by a signing. Please bring as many books as you would like signed, I never put a limit on signings and I intend to stay as long as is needed.

This is the kind of event we need more of…cons that cover areas not covered by Wizard or other big promoters, that are put on and run by readers, who make a point about diversity. I love this city, it's my first visit to the area and I never want to leave.

I would dearly love to see some Tumblrs show up and say hello. Support local conventions!

I am not familiar with this artist, but if you're listening, Mr. (?) Gonzales, that is one of the most beautiful and spot-on portrayals of Zinda I have ever seen. Spectacular. I would put that on my wall if I owned it.

whyireadcomicbooks:

It's been a Secret Six day, and with that I've been fangaying all over Miss Jeanette because she's just made with glamour, spite, and everything sickening.

And looking at Jeanette, I realized that I'd seen similar looks recently. Where you may ask? Why Rupaul's Drag Race, of course.

Above are two fanart pieces of one of Manila Luzon's outfits for the hair challenge [@1:55 for a better look at it] and Raja's much-praised Marie Antoinette look, and I'm just saying: if Miss Thing is ever looking to change shit up, then I've definitely got her covered.

She and Scandal might be my favorite characters I've created. I've seen some elaborate Jeannette cosplay and it is literally pants-melting!

Please Take A Moment

And check this out…there is a kickstarter page up for an anti-bullying comic produced by noted PRISM creators Zan Christianson and Mark Brill, which will also have contributions by myself, Greg Rucka, Phil Jimenez, and many more. This book is something I'm very proud to be a part of, and will be distributed free to teachers groups, libraries, and other outlets where it can hopefully be read by people who are feeling the effects of bullying, particularly young people.

It's a great book and an important cause. The minimum amount needed has already been raised…we're trying to raise additional money for a higher print run and for postage and other small related expenses. There's only a few hours left to pledge, so please, go take a look and donate a couple dollars if you can. This is a chance for comics to actually change people's lives for the better and I hope everyone will do what they can, or at least spread the word (quickly!).

Many, many thanks…here's the link:  http://tinyurl.com/3ctzqc2

[TRIGGER WARNING: Ableist imagery and language]

elliottmarshal:

I can't think of a way for this to be any more offensive:

The Red Hood is a Jerk by ~starwind824

followed by this image description:

"I'm not saying Jason Todd has stolen Oracle's chair and kicked her cripple ass to the ground, but he totally would. Anywho thats [me] as Countdown era Todd, and my wifey as Oracle. Will I cosplay Nightwing next and cheat on Starfire with her? Probably not."

I don't think I've ever hated another fan as much as I do right now.

I don't even know what to say to this.

Horrible.
