If I had ever had any doubts, this would have been the moment that reassured me that Gail Simone’s new Uncanny X-Men run will do right by Gambit.

He’s not a handsome but childish fuckup who everyone else more tolerates than likes. He’s clever, competent, and ballsy as hell.

And, if I had any doubts, this would have been the moment that reassured me that Gail Simone gets Rogue.

Where fighting is concerned, she’s confident enough to stroll up to a dragon with two buddies at her side and pick a fistfight. But when things get rough on the personal, emotional level?

She runs. She hides.

I haven’t kept up with a comic in fully twenty years - since literally 2004 - but goddammit we sure are back.

Marvel spotlights new X-Men Calico, Deathdream, Jitter, and Ransom • AIPT

Okay so the blonde (Calico) is formerly from wealth, raised to hate mutants, still struggling with internalized mutant-hate. Power is a psychic connection to her horse, which is basically her STAND by the sound of it.

Deathdream is undead, his powers allowing him to connect to spirits and other death related abilities.

Jitter (blue outfit) has a hyperfocus ability that lets her master abilities in bursts, but she will mentally crash if she uses her powers to long.

Ransom has a black hole for a heart, and was abandoned by his parents when he was kidnapped for a ransom.

Interesting spread of abilities.

Hope they survive the experience.

Just a reminder that it doesn’t matter how famous you are or how rich you are, transphobia is trash.

absolutely hate how hard gail simone is pandering to romy shippers. nothing to do with the ship in specific, it could be any other & i’d feel the same way, but it always makes me uncomfortable when creatives behave like that.

OR, what about THIS for an idea?

I love all the characters and think Rogue and Gambit together are delightful?
