I was born in New Hampshire and now live outside Toronto by way of Germany, Belgium, Seattle, and Austin. After working for a number of evil empires, I decided to forgo things like a salary and regular human interaction to start publishing company Brain Lag, which has now published over fifty titles by twenty different authors from across North America and Great Britain. I try to find time for reading, writing, art, gaming, baking, playing guitar and piano, photography, and more at home with my husband, daughter, and two crazy tabbies.

Favourite reads of 2025, part 1

So, I’ve been reading a bit more this year.

I honestly don’t know what’s happened. Granted, half of those books are graphic novels, which are much quicker to get through. But that still puts me only two books short of my reading goal for the entire year. This isn’t exactly precedented for me, either.

Much shorter than the page count suggests, because not much happens per page. As a result, things that I would have appreciated expanding on were glossed over or narrated away. But, it was a cute little story with a good message.

I am immediately in love and also shaking my fist remotely at the creator for there not being any more of it to read yet (publicly, anyway). Every element of this graphic novel was an absolute delight.

I wasn’t crazy about the whole (view spoiler)[boss fight (hide spoiler)] that was the final few books, but I did like the ultimate conclusion, especially the final chapter. This was a very cute and fun series. ...more
