Jim Butcher's Ghosts, Part 2

So it turns out I wasn't the only one surprised by the strange pricing scheme on Jim Butcher's newest novel, Ghost Story. Other customers have taken notice.

Some background first. Amazon allows its members to tag products with terms they want associated with them. The tags are then voted on by other Amazon customers. The goal is to interconnect products through shared tags. I think it is a cool

Jim Butcher's Ghosts

Ghost Story, the next book in the Dresden Files releases this July. I'm a Jim Butcher fan. A rabid Jim Butcher fan. I want to know what happened to Harry Dresden at the end of Changes. Is he alive? Dead? Frozen in carbonite? Since there are only 3 months to spare, I went online to pre-order it on Amazon. I'm baffled with what I found:

Ghost Story's hardcover price: $14.71Ghost Story's Kindle

Are You Serious, Guys?

kb7uen Gene over on the Kindle Boards pointed out this article:

Kindle, Nook, Other E-Readers Wrecking Publishing Industry: Report - Desktops and Notebooks - News & Reviews - eWeek.com

The article is worth a read because it captures the total madness of some in the publishing industry right now.

Spring Leaves

"I've never wished a man dead, but I've read some obituaries with great pleasure." —Twain.
Nine years, seven months and twenty one days. That's how long I've waited to write this down. I couldn't sleep last night until I did. Like it or not, my entire adult life has been framed by one man's atrocities. I wanted him out of my existence before I spoke on it.

Folk Lives

The Fleet Foxes new album, Helplessness Blues, finally releases on May 3rd. I'll be listening to it on loop while I study for the USMLE.

The initial reviews are quite strong:"In making this record, I think I finally became totally comfortable with our choice, which is being a folk band." So said Fleet Foxes front man Robin Pecknold, to the online music site Stereogum about the recording of

Calling All Reviewers

Did you read Zero Sight?

Did you like it?

Love it?

Hate it?

Doesn't matter. I'd like to encourage you to review it.

Amazon is running a new program that ranks books based on reader ratings. In order to qualify for this program, the Zero Sight needs to get at least 10 reviews posted.

I'd be grateful if you'd be willing to post a review of the book once you are able to read it. The review

Ich möchte in der großen in Deutschland

Zero Sight just became available in Germany.
Amazon.de has my "Produktbeschreibungen" up and everything.
I want to own in my fatherland. I mean, Dieter Resnick (my main protagonist) is of Germanic stock. That's gotta earn me some points.
Problem is, the "Produktbeschreibungen" and "B. Justin Shier Auf Amazon Seite" are still in English. I want to put my best foot forward. Can any of you help

Konrath Challenges Writers to Chart Their Own Path

"Unless you're making over a million dollars a year with the Big 6, continuing down the legacy path is a crazy bad idea."
-JA Konrath

A post by e-publishing advocate JA Konrath gave authors defending traditional publishing a brutal drubbing. It's causing quite a stir in writers' circles, and his website has received comments numbering in the hundreds. (Some bestselling authors even wrote
