Author Battles, Amazon, Apple, & a Big Personal Share

Big, honest and very personal share today. I’m not fond of preachy posts, but I’m breaking my own rule in writing this. (It’s not all preachy—some is just the heartache.)

I may end up pulling the five books I have in KU. I’m angry about it. I don’t make much in page reads in there, but it’s a little more than I make in sales. I’ve only sold 25 copies of all those books I bought covers for last month, if that tells you anything. But that’s the gamble we all take when we put out books. I’m certainly not complaining about that. And I’m not sharing to garner more sales. Trust me. We all want to see our books soar in there, but the reality is often quite different. And really, mine haven’t been in long at all.

Current Projects

Since October of 2015, I’ve been focusing on the MM erotic romantic suspense series I write with co-author, Jocelynn Drake. You can learn all about us at www.drakeandelliott.com and we also have a really fun–and not always safe for work–reader’s group called Unbreakable Readers in Facebook. We’ve released all four full length books of the series and three of the in-between story compilations. These are like 30k epilogues that show life with each couple after all the crazy suspenseful action has passed.

Lots in Kindle Unlimited now

First up, I want to show off some new covers! I did love my original covers but had some trouble trying to purchase them. Getting nine books and novellas back left me in a quandary. Covers aren’t cheap and there’s a lot to learn about formatting and more when you self-publish. (Jocelynn does the formatting for our books together.) I have friend doing two “from the bottom up” custom covers and I adore the one he did for Dweller on the Threshold! His website is under construction, but keep a lookout for Gaslight Graphics!

You can click each cover to go to Amazon and read more about the books. I am eventually going to retool this website. Update it and turn it into more a website than a blog. The best place to keep up with me is Facebook and in the reader’s group on Facebook I share with Jocelynn Drake called Unbreakable Readers. It’s for fans of our Unbreakable Bonds series and any other series we do together.

Dweller on the Threshold is urban fantasy. It’s a big, bold adventure with an ensemble cast, a sexy immortal Minoan warrior, a pansexual androgynous necromancer… you get the drift. Fun and shenanigans and yes, it has romance but this one is lighter on the sex than what you’re used to from me. (With the exception of the YA trilogy I did for Harlequin Teen, of course.) I wrote this back in the days when urban fantasy was getting really popular. I LOVED the genre because I was always being told by romance editors that my heroines were too strong. Beri O’Dell got me several offers of representation from agents, so it was like a foot in the door.

Crux Survivors Live in Kindle Unlimited!

This beautiful cover is by Sloan J Designs!

Crux Survivors is live in Kindle unlimited! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0714R4Q4N This is a compilation of After the Crux and Sole Survivors, a novella and book I originally published as Dani Worth with Samhain Publishing. These are very sexy! After the Crux is MMF menage and Sole Survivors is MF with a return of the characters from volume one. These stories revolve around a group of survivors 17 years after an illness wiped out most of the world as they come together to form a new community. You know me–made families abound in my work.

I am hoping these pick up a new audience because I love the world so much, I’d love to continue the series! Most will probably be MM, but I do have another MMF planned and even a FFM romance.

Beri is Live Again

Look who is once again out in the world! (And she’s in Kindle Unlimited!)  I received the rights back on my Beri O’Dell books along with all of the others from Samhain Publishing and I’m working on getting new covers and making some into compilations. I’ll share as they come up. So what’s this about?

On a hunt to save her sister, the last thing Beri O’Dell needs is love. Aren’t demons bad enough?

Beri O’Dell is investigating paranormal creatures because she wants to know what she is. Taller and stronger than most men, she astral projects and can peel through dimensional layers to see the creatures and spirits beyond.

She once helped her foster sister, Detective Elsa Remington, track down killers in Jacksonville, Florida, but stopped when a nasty fire elemental turned her strength against her. Now, she finds herself pulled back when something steals Elsa’s soul and puts her into a coma.

With little time to spare, Beri searches for the reason behind her sister’s coma. She has help in her spirit guides Fred and Phro, but others come along for the ride, including a pyro-nervous witch, and an androgynous necromancer.

The last thing Beri needs is to fall in love with a mysterious stranger. But the handsome Minoan warrior Nikolos knows what creature she’s after because he’s battled it before.

It’s bad.

Really, really bad.

He calls it the Dweller on the Threshold.

Warning: Contains a worried heroine with no time, a witch with fire problems, a pissed-off necromancer, a trapped goddess, and a damned sexy, but scary, warrior. Throw in bloody battles, mass-murderer history lessons and a bit of sexy time and you get the start of Beri’s new life.

Re-release Cover Reveal!

Look at this pretty! It was designed by Gaslight Graphics and I’ll be sharing his website as soon as it goes live. Dweller on the Threshold should be up on Amazon in Kindle Unlimited very soon! I’ll update this post with a link when it’s live.

Love and Laughter & a Sneak Peek

(Mirrored from www.drakeandelliott.com) As Jocelynn said in her last blog post, we turned over the compilation of Rowe’s short stories and novelette to our editors. It was so fun working on more featuring these two. That image to the left is one I purchased to represent Noah in the book trailer I decided not to make. (I was never all that good at those. LOL. But they were fun to make!)

As usual, we wrote new stories in addition to adding the free ones from the website. Two of those were sexied up, too, so it’s a lot of new words. Most of the stories ended up pretty sexy, because really…it’s Rowe and Noah! One thing I love about this couple is the way they play and laugh in addition to their incredible passion. They genuinely have fun together.

In fact, the novelette is called There Goes the Security Deposit.  Bet that gives you an idea about that particular story.

My Former Samhain Titles

More to read from me soon!

I have nine titles I published with Samhain (Three as Rinda Elliott and six as Dani Worth.) and because the publisher is closing, I’m getting my rights back on all of them. I’ve decided to self-publish them and because they never really got a lot of exposure, they didn’t pick up a lot of readers. So, I’m getting new covers and new blurbs, but the books will be the same. I’m going to place them into Kindle Unlimited on Amazon (They’ll be for sale as well.) to hopefully build exposure. I feel bad that all of these series were stopped mid-flow, but I still love the characters and worlds. If they pick up enough readers, I’ll be finishing them.

Some of the Dani Worth titles were a little short, so I’ll be bundling like this.

Kithran Regenesis Series:

Kithra, Replicant, Catalyst

Origin

Crux Survivors:

After the Crux, Sole Survivors

More info when I have it!

Using More as a Website than Blog

I do blog at www.drakeandelliott.com and I am also on Facebook more often than anywhere else. Most of our readers hang there.

Torch Release Day

So sorry I’ve been neglecting my website. I do post often at www.drakeandelliott.com and I’m in our Unbreakable Reader’s Facebook group often. I’ve had a few personal life issues with family health and other things. But I’ve also been working hard on the MM romantic suspense series I write with author, Jocelynn Drake! I absolutely LOVE writing these books, so you can expect more from us. And from me–it’s been my favorite kind of romance to read for many years.
